I read a tip somewhere, I forget where, somewhere on the internet or the game itself during a load screen, about a tip where youcould select a group of ships by type and collapse it? Was this right? If so, how is that done (as my ship list begins to climb into larger numbers the list gets rather long).
One of small the buttons above the Empire tree (somewhat near the pin button) allows you to toggle this. I think its called stack, and it groups all ships of the same type in the same gravity well in groups of 10. Deffidently makes using the tree a lot easier. 
and in your setting folder you can change how many it stacks per stack. 10 is the standard. I have mines set on 25.
Wow...this makes it a world easier to manage and collapsed like, everything but the capital ships, even the structures...thanks for the responses and help.
