Standard noob post

I just bought this game yesterday and played for some 8 hours, I'm hooked and I can't believe I passed it over for so long. Can't wait to potentially put some of my modding abilities to use for a community that seems to still be alive. Any ideas if the expansions will be available as a disc?

Glad to hear you like it.

But expansions are on Impulse.  They can be bought and downloaded from there only.

End of DanK3670's quote

Two micro-expansions "Entrenchment" & "Diplomacy" (The latter still in beta - but will be released in February I believe).

They said Diplomacy is the last micro-expansion. They never said anything about a full fledged expansion...

Trinity is the bundle packaged of vanilla sins and the two micro-expansions. There is strong support for the rumour of a Sins 2 but its only a rumour. Absolutely nothing has been said about new Sins material after diplomacy.

If there were to be a sins 2, I think it would be like this in the beggining: The Vasari negotiated a cease-fire with the TEC and Adsvent, shortly after which they continue on their exodus. The TEC and Advent also have a temporary cease-fire (diplomacy). Then, about five years after the Vasari leave, their persuers arrive at the TEC and Advent worlds. Their fleet appears to be Vasari, but it is far more advanced and far outnumber the TEC and Advent alone, and still have a slight advantage compoared to them when the TEC and Advent combine. So, the TEC and Advent form information, trade and peace treaties. Then they start fighting their combined adversary. It sounds kinda like Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance, but it would still probably be a great game, so long as they let you play as the new race, and kept the essence of Sins the same (basically). Sure they could change some gameplay features, and the graphics, sound, and maybe and some new things, like custom ships perhaps. Or maybe a tool that lets you design new techs and abilities for SP.
