Show off your Sins model (pick a page)

Think of this thread as something similar to conceptships.blogspot.com for the Sins community. Basically, a way for the community to share what they have created whether it makes it into a mod or not.

At a minimum post a screen shot of your model in blender, xsi, 3d object converter, etc or in game. If you have a name for your ship or story behind it, even better.

We are looking forward to seeing what you have created! :)

Visit http://soase.weebly.com/modeling.html (thanks myfist0)
The soase.weebly is a compilation of many of the hard to find topics created by many experienced soase modders and extensively added to by myfist0. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

From the beginning of this thread IskatuMesk has wow'd us with his models and ultimately released a video of his creations in Sins of a Solar Empire. This particular model was my favorite in the beginning and still stands out.

SivCorp looking to stretch new ideas from existing models managed to create several menancing models including the fantastic Vasari version seen here: (Vasari Flagship Sonar Kal'd used in the Distant Stars Mod)

It's my thread so a few of my stuff...

I am working on my own meshes...

Probably a stupid question, but here it is:

How do I get to edit the texture projections in XSI?

I know how to link them up and adjust them, but how do I actually texture them?
End of KrdaxDrkrun's quote

Do you have a texture? If not you need to flatten out all the UVs and stamp uv mesh then open that saved image in an image editor that can edit .dds and create your texture sheet that you connect in XSI materials.

Here is a battleship wip for the United Earth Military (UEM)

interesting :)

My attempt at texturing today. I'm not real fond of the team color area yet and the tangent is wonky but overall I like it.

Nice shape.  The team color areas could be "vented" to lessen the bright parts.

And the cannon barrels should be lighter.... I like the look, but the cannons should glisten from the sun

Is this a frigate or cruiser, btw?

Thanks for the feedback. I'll lighten up the cannons and try the venting process. I have some other turrets that need touching up too. They are a bit too dark.

This is my first attempt to create a reusable texture for one of my races.

This particular ship was recently modeled by Gundommodfan (previously alexrose). I like it's shape too.

It will be a capital ship in my mod, probably a battleship class.

hopefully you take this as a compliment but it looks slightly like the dreadnought from conquest frontier wars :)

I dunno if I totally see that, but I see where you're going. It has a classic naval approach to it. Good for your TEC/UEF/UED/AnythingEarth group.

And hell, I'm just glad to know someone remembers that game.

Figure I should post two of the Soviet Cruisers that just got a texture makeover, courtesy of Silver Mobius, our skinner.

Classic, comrade!

Made a couple of tweaks here and there.

Next experiment with same texture.

^I like this one. The front part of it looks as if it can open, like the Venator in Star Wars, which is a nice touch. The bridge windows seem a bit off to me for some reason. Carrier ship I'm assuming?

Definately a carrier and definately looks like a star wars model. I should mention this model and the one below were modelled by SolCommand but left untextured.

Here's another one. I've built the source texture in a layered pdf so it will be possible to change to completely change the looks of these ships with some simple tweaks. Personally though I like the roughed up look.

hey there folks, remember that model I posted a few days back, here's a smoothed version look to it.

Nice looking ship. What kind of role would it fill?

A few changes to this carrier. I'm liking the team colors more now, not so hard on the eye's.

That carrier looks really sweet.

A fleet in the works :P

which ever role anyone wants it to, though it does seem a bit large for a cruiser :P with it's poly count I was thinking along the lines of Cap ship. I'll have to take a copy file and redo the smoothing a bit so it isn't so high poly for SOSE, unless someone with very good modeling skills can lower the poly on that 16k model ;)

Ships with smooth lines like that tend to reduce well in my experience.

Here's a ship with 100k triangles reduced 75%...

Sure, send it over. I may swap out a model for it ;)

Remember this model Eternal? It's the Nephilim Long Range Frigate now ;)

I do and that looks like a fine ship now with textures on it. I thought it was one of the more corny models I made but with the right skin on it it doesn't seem so corny anymore XD

I'm still searching for the right texture for Nephilim. I'll probably completely redo them this summer if I have enough time.

The ship looks good though with the rest of the fleet :)
