MMX Mercury iconsets released

http://www.mmicons.com/
Being a Mac-iconist he released the sets for Windows XP, too. Dazzla did a great job in converting 380 icons for use in XP. Be sure not to miss some of the icons as the menu system is a bit twisted. His older sets are partly ready for download in XP format, too.

They are by the far the hottest icons i have ever seen.

I changed them one by one then made my own personal theme. Took forever but well worth it. Maybe i'll do a screenshot.

There is an IP-Theme in the IP section here, must have been uploadd shortly after I posted the news. Lucky enough to own 2 PC's, so I can use these and the incredible FauxS-XP sets.

i think they're fabulous.. an excellent update and expansion to their originals. i don't understand, however, the limited backlash against detailed 32bit icons.

i saw the debate first when os ten debuted, and some complained they were no longer icons, but pictures. i think this is rediculous.

many like to hang on to old ways of doing things.. i guess i could be typing this on my old atari 800 or a c64.. but i'm not.

regarding the art of iconography, it seems odd for an artist to actually -want- limits and boundaries. regardless of how detailed icons are, they still have to convey an idea graphically, hopefully even after i've erased the annoying text beneath it. to say this has removed the challenge or worth of the endeavor is to be stultifyingly short-sighted.

from the main menu, click on mmx-mercury. then click one of the icon sets at the bottom. then click 'windows xp' in the main window. this will begin the .zip download.
