portrait mode not working!

I recenlty purchased a 1900*1200 dot samsung montior and moved it to portrait mode.

upon launching DG the game would not launch = telling me my GFX drivers were out of date! (cata 9.12 and latest DX installed)

upon several tries i cahnged back to landscape and the game launched.

Why cant the game hande portrait?

According to squidbot, an ex-GPG employee, it's a driver issue. They encountered the same problem during development of Supreme Commander.
