WinCustomize Browser - new update this week...

https://www.wincustomize.com/index.asp?cmd=subscription
For those of you who have subscribed to WinCustomize, a new version of the skin browser is due out this week that really improves the interaction with the site. Gone is much of the HTML windows and instead an Outlook Express type UI for handling the message boards. It's really a great way of interacting with the site!

The browser is just one of the goodies that users get for subscribing.

In the previous fully web based version I used the context menu to refresh the list. Granted, that was annoying (as opposed to just looking at the message board page in a browser complete with a refresh button) but it worked.

However, the new version is not web-based (which IMHO is a good idea), but I have no idea how to refresh the discussion list. Does it do it automatically?

It does it automatically. Which is spooky when you see it in action.

Ahh. It's gonna take a little getting use to. Here's something that's a bit awkward (unless I misunderstand what's going on).

In the discussion window, I had the the Logical Falacies thread opened (in the bottom portion of the window).

The Logical Falacies thread was updated with a new post (saw it in the top portion of the window).

However, the bottom window (the web control) was not updated. I therefore had to use the web control's context menu to refresh the page.

I suppose the only other way to update it is to click another thread and go back and click the Logical Falacies thread.

In a future version, can we have a refresh button? Alternatively, I suppose the app keep track of what is the current thread being viewed and refresh it automatically but that could be annoying if I'm currently reading that thread or keying in a new post and it decides to refresh the control for me.

Oh, and in the long run, is the discussion web control going to go away and replaced by something more "news group readerish"?
Though I'm undecided if that would be a good thing or not.

Thanks in advance for listening to my ramble Brad

Doh! Disregard the majority of my ramble! It appears that if I click the message thread again, it refreshes the web control.

Once again an stereotypical demonstration of ask first then figure out the obvious afterwards.

Then again, maybe not! I'm confused. Someone put me out of my misery.
