Microsoft's Virtual Machine and Windows XP

Did you recently install Windows XP on a machine?
Did you try to experience a website with Java applets?
Did you try to expect IE to download automatically the MS Virtual machine?
...Than you must have seen the message, that Microsoft did no longer support autmated download of VM (you need this to load JAVA scripts). All that because of some legal problems they couldn't solve.
I worked with the whole JAVA package of SUN and experienced nothing more than trouble.
There was allways the way of using Netscape, but i really don't like it, so I decided to search for a better solution.
The best thing i found was ddecirce.com.
On that page you can find a direct link to download Microsofts Virtual Machine.

Have Fun!

No, but I remember when I did.

>Did you try to experience a website with Java applets?

Yes.

>Did you try to expect IE to download automatically the MS Virtual machine?

No, because I had been reading for some time before installing that MS wasn't providing virtual machine as part of the install.

SP1 (at least the disc version) will include JVM, but that will be the last version of Windows to include it, because of legal problems with Sun.

You can download it from Microsft if you go to Windows Update Catalog (which is part of Windows Update). There you can also download any update to your hard drive to install later.

I updated my WinXP Pro to these new drivers and thank goodness there's System Restore as it brought my machine to a crawl on a P4 2.2 Ghz machine. I suggest anyone updating should do a system checkpoint before proceding!
