Fan Features you would like to see made official

Mods that should get a promotion

I know some mods are already pretty close to this in fan circles such as 7 deadly sins but if they decided to make a 3rd micro-expansion based on the best of the fan mods what features do you think they should include?

BailNight's Graphic mod.

Nuff' said.

New planet types. I don't want to say they should include Sins plus as is, but really the lack of veriety here is a major weakness to the game.

Edit: Metroid avatars FTW!

I agree with Bailknights and new planets as already mentioned. And ManSh00ter's Volumentric Explosions.

New planets and celestial objects (like in 7 Deadly Sins), Bailknights graphics mod and Manshooters volumetric explosions.

Expansion of the planet/capital ship name character limit.

Well, I am not aware of this feature in any fan mod, but I definately agree.

And this issue needs to be fixed too: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/374505

1. New planet types -- More variations on existing types, plus more types. Barren, Oceanic, etc.

2. Terraforming -- not a mod, but would certainly be cool. Think: Desert > Desert-with-water > Terran > more-lush-Terran

3. Brokering peace among other empires -- would be really cool, and not require much work; just a few tweaks to existing Diplomacy such as the addition of a "Send envoy to..." mission option. Er, yeah, that's not a mod either, but I'd like it!

I'd like some fan-made maps to be included!  Maybe not fifty maps but a dozen or so would be good.

I find the the game has many similarly-sized maps that seem designed for multiplayer and are yet very small- and the bigger multistar maps are too large.  If there were more appropriately sized balanced maps included with the game then perhaps the deficiencies with the random maps might not be as important.

I'd like to see auto-download for custom maps implemented.

"majorStress's new prefomance improving and ram saving mod." 5*   5*   5*

"New planets and celestial objects" 5*   5*

"I'd like to see auto-download for custom maps implemented."   5*

Very slow compared to forward REVERSE ENGINES.

Command and Conquer has promoted units. The longer a basic unit last in battles the better it gets. Not just cap ships.

If not auto-download for maps, then take the best 10-20 custom maps (hold a vote or contest or something) and add them in the next patch.

And I'll have to check out this performance enhancement mod, as I have a couple friends with mediocre systems.

Also, it would be good to have some extra variety of gravwells.  I was very surprised that this wasn't implemented with the second expansion, as it wouldn't seem to take much effort and it might add to the game greatly.

I had a quick look at the Sins Plus extra planet list, and the type I'd like to have in the game would be Toxic planets.  As it is you can colonise any planet with two levels of civilian technology and then that's it.  Though I wouldn't have the extractor bonuses, having a planet type that it took higher tiers of tech research to colonise might add to the game.  Presumably shielding would be vital to colonising a Toxic planet.

Also, there is a Toxic planet in our own system, Venus.  Every other planet in the Solar System can be represented in the game- Mars is more or less a desert and Mercury little more than a dead asteroid- but Venus doesn't fit readily into any category.

More specials might also be an improvement!

This is a really good idea and one I have thought about before.  Why can't Ironclad and Stardock review people's custom maps and offer to add them to the game as standard maps?  It would add content to the game for free or perhaps for a couple dollars worth of Impulse credits.  Is there some sort of an intellectual property concern?  It seems like part of using Galaxy Forge in the first place would be accepting a license to use it which would include a provision about how your maps could be incorporated into the game itself.  (I don't know if anything like that is in there, but it would make sense if it were.)

I think the ease of players' being able to easily download and install custom content is one area where Ironclad and Stardock dropped the ball on this one.

What if the maps were put up on Impulse so that people could optionally download them and have them automatically install into the right place?

With valve games the lobby was upgraded to have the download link embeded in the map and the user could optionally download the map (with a warning) from that link into its proper Add-ons directory. With Command and Conquer, if I dowloaded a map, as soon as a friend joined my lobby, a small pop up asking "Get this Map" and I think it came directly from my computer. Either way was a great way and all Sins needs is a small patch to impliment either without dealing with testing 100s of maps for release.
