Stars visible in miniscreen in unexplored sectors

Is it too early for a report on this type of a problem? Is the code to suppress displaying
solar systems on the minimap in place yet? Not only can I see stars in unexplored sectors,
but I can see enemy ships in "fog of war" areas and unexplored space.

Cheers,
Jack

Curious! I just tried a gigantic galazy for the first time. The stars still showed up in unexplored
segments, but only for about two segments away from my home planet.

Is this intended?

Also curious, as I explored more area more stars appeared, again two sectors
away from my explored space.

That's by design. The theory behind this implementation is that you might be able to see stuff on the edges of your sensor range, but you wouldn't be able to tell if they were inhabited or who owned the system. So you can see white stars in unexplored sectors that are adjacent (N, S, W, E) to an explored sector.

I like it. Realizm galore. However, others that see this for the first time will undoubtably
question it. This sounds like something that should be explained very carefully in the documentation
for the finished product.

But, you said the adjacent unexplored sectors? I recall seeing stars for adjacent sectors in all directions
(up, down, left, right, and diaginal) plus a sector in the up, down, left, and right directions. I will look
again.

Hmmm...well, I thought it was only up, down, left, right...diagonal could be incidental if you have two sectors unexplored next to each other.

Nope. When you start a new game on a minimum of medium size you see stars for all sectors two avay from
your original star. No terms needed at all. Be sure tgo set 50% habitation just to be sure you have enough
to see.

Just tried a large galaxy, and it is only showing stars in secters adjacent to explored sectors,
not the next two. I will check the medium and small galaxies again tomorrow.

Cari,
I just tried a tiny galaxy and this one shows stars in adjacent sectors as you
expected, just N, S, E, and W. This is understandable for a galaxy that is only 3X3
sectors and you might want to keep some of the galaxy information hidden for a while.
But is what I saw an inconsistancy for larger galaxies? Certainly a diagonal is still
only one sector away, so it seems likely that knowing there are stars there would be
consistant with the intent, but insn't being able to see in a medium galaxy than in
a large one is counter-intuitive?

Cari,
Please hold off on this one until I examine it some more. I am beginning to see more of what you have been saying and
am wondering if I have been missunderstanding what I have been seeing. I will let you know what I find.

Thanks,
Jack
