Random PUG, the last bastion

Feel free to jump in "3v3 Random" if you see it.  I host it everytime.  I hope others will also (or larger!).  I'm bored to stinking death of Oak, UB, LE.

Some of the best games are random, if you are afraid not willing to try it.  Good players changing the stale game strats up.  Sometimes one team will have a huge advantage in DGs, but will get ganked by the surprising synergy of some of the lesser DGs.

Get in there and try it.  I'm not going back to "top 3 DGs while some douchebag jumps in and picks reg instantly" standard game.

My last game with random was two erebi and an occulus vs two queens and a rook... should I tell you who won or can you guess?

The last 5 random games before that were they have generals, we didn't so we couldn't win... cept for the one where they sucked so bad we couldn't lose, even without monks.

My idea is for a Draft style game.  No doubles... for either side.  Light side picks their demigod first, then Dark picks two, then the Light side picks two then the Dark side picks their last.  The other rule is you can't have two tier 1's on the same side, so if Light picks Erebus, Dark can't pick UB and Oak.

Why are you playing without me, Thunder. Jackass.

Lol I'm in the same boat as Thunder.  I seem to get screwed so often in randoms.  I'm all for mixing things up but it just drives me insane sometimes.

I personally prefer the random combo's we've come up with in our mostly friends games.  Reg is a popular choice, tb / da / occ are often seen.  If properly supported any demigod can do well, but it's interesting to see some people completely underestimate the power of another demigod (I know I completely underestimated DA until I was swapped back through shield and while my death counter ticked I watched the DA make it out of towers and tele out.. shit's gay).

What we did once that I thought was a good idea was to set it up like this:

One random

One random General

One random Assassin

Less chances of doubles and you have a semi rounded and balance team.

the only problem with all random games is you can post them on gamereplays.org! there is a goof error! :(

my last random game was hilarious. Mithrandar was Sedna, and I was queen. Our third player was an useless ice tb lol

we won against rook, beast and fire tb. It was such an hilarious game where sedna and queen went on rampage lol

I think mith was going to post the replay:D

Would be funny if you could be forced into an ice or fire TB.

Start the game in fire mode and cant leave! ON TEH NOZ!

Don't know what to tell you.  Some few games you get a horrible match up, but that's pretty rare.  But the "I don't have a general, I quit!" is BS. PUG, you're never playing against a stacked team of pros.  I've never seen every general go minion build and pwn my team.  Ever.  Best game I ever had was Oak, Oak, TB VS Reg, Reg, UB.  I was on the Reg team.

Best game ever because of the players.  Osmo and Legolan.  Right off, we got in there, talked strat, and played hard, supporting each other.  I've never met these guys before, but that was the most fun I've ever had at DG.

That game was close, intense, with fun players on both sides laughing and joking.

Honestly, the "one random General" may be a good idea.  Then again, it less metagame and stale to be completely random, forces new tactics.  Yeah, you might lose, but oh well.  Fight hard, laugh.  Try ideas.  Less QQ over what you did and didn't get.

I hate Random. When the game actually starts, I always get Occ or Sedna :(

After I get interwebs back up, I'm down for a few random games. I like the idea of RGen, RAss, and Randum.

we should play games where you get to pick the dg of your opponents and vice-versa. No doubles.

lol.  While I sometimes really enjoy random games, I also really enjoy the games with the small community I play.  Whenever we don't have enough people for 3v3, 4v4, or 2 of us on each team and a 3rd random decent player, it always seems like the opposing team picks oak / ere / ub or some equally strong, strong combo.  We have mixed it up and constantly see regs / tb / occ / rook / da and even qot in our mixes.  It's nice to have the variety.. but then you get to pug scenarios and it's 90% of the time the same thing on the other side.

I quite like playing games with all random demigods sometimes. Its matchups usually turn out fairly even with the games I'm in.

That would be interesting.

lol maybe interesting.. or may be crap. i.e.

first team picks - "Hey we'll give you guys some good ppl.. here's oak / ub / reg"

second team - "oh thx.  You can have sedna / reg / qot, gl"

;)

Anyway, Cow we kinda do this in some games.  "Hey you should go reg so I can be reg!" is something I've said multiple times with success :)
