This thread has been created for the purpose of tracking results in the April/May 2010 2v2 Demigod Community Tournament. 

Current status:  WINNER! - King_Of_Thorns + Zen_God

Round 1a began at 5PM on 4/21/2010 and ended at 11:59PM EST on 4/30/2010. 

Round 1b began at Midnight on 5/1/2010 and ended at 11:59PM EST on 5/7/2010.

Round 2 began at Midnight on 5/8/2010 and ended at 11:59PM EST on 5/23/2010.

Round 3 (SEMIFINALS) began at Midnight on 5/24/2010 and will end at 11:59PM EST on 5/30/2010.

Round 4 (FINALS) began Midnight on 5/31/2010 and will end at 11:59PM EST on 6/5/2010

Players responsible for hosting and scheduling their own matches.  Then, the winning team must provide a replay and a link to the pantheon stats here for tracking purposes, for every game played.  Please feel free to use this thread get your matches scheduled.

There will be a need to disqualify teams that aren't making the required effort to get their games in without penalizing another team that's doing whatever they can to get a match scheduled.  It's probably best if teams that are trying to organize matches go on record in the forums.  For instance, if I was playing against say AtMa and Ba, I'd post something like the following in this thread:

Atma + Ba:  trouser and pacov are generally available M-F from 5pm EST - 1AM EST.  Please let us know if some time in that slot would work for you or recommend a time slot that works.  I'll PM you in a few days if I haven't heard from you or we can discuss this on lagwars vent. 

Something like that.  If it comes down to disqualifying teams because they didn't get their match in, the more info and tracking you have indicating that you did your best to get the match scheduled the better.

Here is the FINAL bracket  - UPDATED 6/5/2010

Tournament Rules:

  • You may only select characters as indicated in the grid below:

  • Each match in the tournament will be the best 2 out of 3 games
  • All matches will be played on cataract with default settings (the only exceptions being AI HP on Very High and AI Gold/XP on low)
  • After teams are formed, they will be randomly placed into a bracket to determine who will fight who.  Everything will be random initially in round 1.  In the following rounds, the winners from one game will play the winners from another based on location in the bracket starting from the top on to the bottom.
  • Each team will play 1 round on light side, then 1 round on dark side.  If there is a 3rd round, the team that had the fastest win in game 1 or 2 gets to pick the side they want to be on (keep in mind the following rule).  
  • The team that is on the dark side must pick their characters and ready up first.  Then the light gets to pick and the dark side does not have a chance to adjust their characters. 
  • To track your wins, you must do the following - post the replay at gamereplays.org.  If you have issues with gamereplays, upload the file to rapid share and provide us with a link.  Also, provide a link to the match in the pantheon and let me know if its a win or loss.  The winning team should do this for each and every match.
  • UberFix 1.02 must be used (http://forums.demigodthegame.com/374315).  UberFix is a mod that fixes many of the bugs in Demigod.  Check the modding forum for everything that is fixed by UberFix 1.02. 

How will we handle crashes:

If there is a game crash, the players involved in that match should see if they can come to a consensus on the probable outcome of the match.  If there is no clear winner, the 2 teams should replay the match using the exact same demigods and sides (light/dark).  If there was a clear winner at that point in the game, then that team should be awarded the win.  If the 2 teams disagree on the outcome, a third party will review the replay of the match and render a decision.  Be aware that the 3rd party must agree that a specific team was going to win or the results will be thrown out and the match redone.

How we will handle invalid game states:

The lastgamereplay file is still created in the event of an invalid game state, so it is still possible to review the results of a match.  In the event of an invalid game state, players should attempt to resolve the issue exactly the same way as game crashes.  If you believe foul play occurred, submit the replay along with any screen shots, etc, as evidence and we will review.  If there is a CLEAR consensus that a team is willingly triggering invalid game states, that team should be disqualified after a thorough review of the facts. Please be reasonable, though.  We all know that Demigod has its bugs and its still pretty easy to encounter an invalid game state even if no one has intentionally triggered it.  If your game does crash, it might be advisable to take a screen shot of the crash as proof.  Be aware that we know invalid game states can occur without any sort of foul play, so please be mindful when submitting requests for review. 

Prizes:

Outside of prestige in our small community, there is also a cash prize thanks to community contributions.  The total (and probably final) amount paid for this tournament is $200.  If you would like to contribute to the pot, please pm me and I'll get you the needed info to send me a payment.  If individuals do not come through on their pledges, I will not be personally covering the difference.  My goal is to collect the pledged amount before the tournament starts and I will be providing updates as I receive the pledged money.

Jona and tacoguy. we are on lagwars vent almost all day long. I am not on demigod but for the past 4-5 days i have been leaving vent on in case you guys show up. I am on AFK status there but send me a private message, telling me the time that you want to play 1-2 hours earlier and i ll be there.

anyone - am I following this right?  You need an extra week to potentially get your game in... this will push the game after you back 1 more week... am I missing something?  Not entirely sure I want to throw a round off by a full week...

KALEL/RAWRRRR - When are you free for our game?  I think Thursday or Friday between 7PM-Midnight would work best for me.  I'll check if that is good with trouser.  Sometime in that window work for you guys?

-edit - does anyone else have some feedback on the passfail/prozombe 1 week extension to maybe get their game in?  Should I disqualify or let them push things out another week.  I want to be fair, but I haven't seen alot of effort on pass/pro to get their match scheduled.

Man Prozombe, you and passfail are killing me here, I'm getting tired of this constantly checking demigod till 5am to see if you guys are on. I can understand extending the dealine through the weekends, then asking for an extra day, but this is just pushing it. I told Passfail earlier that if he doesn't grace us with his presence today, that you guys should step down, I don't like that it's come to that, but I'm tired of waiting. I'll wait for about 1 - 2 hours maximum, but past that, I'm gonna have to ask you to step down unforuantely.

If pacov insists that the deadline is extended, out of my hands, but I say just end it here.

Here's my thought - I understand that there are scheduling conflicts - especially with folks that were randomly paired.  I share the interest of most here in seeing all games actually happen.  So, realistically - if we grant another extension, how sure are you that you guys can get your game in?  I ask because holding up the tourney just for you guys isn't that great, but we could do it... but I also assume we'll be in the same boat for scheduling if you fellas move onto the next round.  I'm willing to give it a shot, but only if you are 100% sure you can get a game in the next week.  If not, we should disqualify you guys and move on.  Let me know asap plz.

edit - soooo.... out of all the replays we've had (for those of you that have been viewing them), what do you guys think is the best game so far? 

And also - I really enjoyed when rawrrrr + ninki were providing commentary on the naur/koll game.  Sadly, the 1st game had an invalid gamestate, and I'm not sure if a replay was saved (i think the lastgamereplay file still would have the data, but I'm not sure).  I would LOVE to see a game with live or post game commentary saved as a video that we could watch.  I know a few people in the community are really into this, so you guys have my support if someone is up for it.

I do have some concerns regarding game stability though... the one game where they commented, rawrrr + ninki were in game (one on each team) and just stayed behind the crystal to not interfere.  That said, the game had an invalid gamestate.

Anyway - I'm not 100% sure if everyone would be on board for rawrrr/kalel v pacov/trouser, but I'd be up for trying to have 2 commentators in game to give it a shot.  I'd like to do a real quick test where its just the 4 of us so we can get a feel for what the lag is like.  Then do a 2nd test to see if we can have the 2 commentators in game with us without any real difference in lag (then we start a 3rd game that will be official in the tourney).  Anyway, i think it would be fun to have all the bells and whistles for this and a few other games in the tourney if people are up for it.  I think ninki did a good job last time, so I'd like him to be a commentator, but I'm not sure who would make a good second for him.  My hopes would be the other guy would have a good grasp of 2v2 tactics and strategy.  Let me know if you are interested here.  If any of you in the game I mentioned are opposed to this, just pm or let me know on vent and I'll simply say we aren't up for a live broadcast - no harm, no foul without mentioning any names.

well... it has been extended if pass/pro indicate here the soonest they will commit to play.  If there is any reason to disqualify due to a scheduling conflict, koush/zen will NOT be disqualified.

Boxxy you are probably right, we will have a hard time aginst you two, but hey... anything can happen in demigod.

As prozombe already said i am very busy with school nowadays and will have problems playing this tournament. The best thing for me would be as boxxy suggested ingame.. to step down from tournament. 

Maybe you 2 want to play against me and prozombe outside of the tournament sometime? without a time limit and just for fun :)

Also you have had 17 days since the results of your first round to schedule with zen.  There are 5 days remaining.  No one is so busy that over the course of 22 days they can't find 2 hours to play games. 

528 consecutive hours your face is either in a book or in bed?  C'mon, people need breaks to keep their brain from exploding.

Oh ho Magnus, some trash talk, I love it. Just makes this tournament that bit more interesting. Bout time this good sportsmen took to the sidelines. I've pretty much pegged Orcun and Shane winning however though lol.

Also, the point is Magnus that finding time to play Demigod is easy, but time where both of them can play is why we've extended this deadline by 3 days.

Well as foreseen we lost,  I didn't do my best but its hard to go against the best dg player ever with someone who only can play one dg and uses all interrupts at the beginning of a fight =/.  Not to say I helped very much all in all it was a big team suckiness.

Ok lets say this is offical then.  Due to scheduling (lack of), me and passfail are disqualifying ourselves.  Good luck to you guys in the tourny. Anxious to see the outcome and was really hoping to keep playing. We should def try to match up outside tourny for fun though.
