StyleXP Skins...Use with Windowblinds?

Hi Yall,

I was looking for fall skins the other day and came across StyleXP. I love some of their skins! They have just the skin I need for my fall theme, but I love Windowblinds even more and since I paid for Windowblinds I would like to use it .

Anyway, Is there a way that I can use some of the StyleXP skins with Windowblinds??

Thanks in advance,

BabyPooh

P.S. Could anyone recommend a good fall/autumn logon screen please? Thanks again!

You can import the StyleXP skin into SkinStudio, assuming you have the latest version of SkinStudio, and save it as a WB skin. Some items won't be skinned though, since StyleXP doesn't skin certain things like ShellStyles.

I am having problems getting the StyleXP skin to open in SkinStudio. I don't know what I am doing wrong, but then again I am not real familiar with SkinStudio. Oh and I do have the latest version. Once I do get it open then what do I do? Someone help please!

Thanks so much,

BabyPooh

To open the StyleXP skin, in SkinStudio go to 'File', 'Import web package' and then change the drop down box where it says 'Files of Type' to 'Skins'. Then browse to the msstyle file you want to open, select it, and click 'Open'. You'll probably get a dialog box saying 'Available Color Schemes'. Select the one you want and click OK. Eventually the skin will open.
To save it as a WB skin, just click on 'File', Save As' and you'll have the wba that WindowBlinds can open. Hint, you'll want to save it as uis1 or uis2.

Dear Pictoratus - I tried tried that also. A dear little error command says "A file of that type? May be useful. Here it will not work" mmmmmm!

Hmm. I tried a couple of msstyle skins for a test to see how it worked and they both opened without floating point error. Maybe the msstyle skin?
Could be the SkinStudio team may have more info. The newsgroup may be a good place to pose questions as I believe they monitor those.

if you open msstyles imported into your windows folder (when you actually used them then they must be there) just select File->Open from the menu and expand the "Windows XP Visual Styles" you should find them there. but skinstudio may open an msstyle anywhere onyour disk. to do that just press the "Import VS" button in Skin Navigator it's the SkinStudio's "File->Open" dialog. Then Browse for the *.msstyles file you want to convert and open it. Then it everything should be pretty straightforward. (just like pictoratus have explained before.
The message you have quoted means that you opened an improper file. Could it have been a zipped msstyles? Make sure it's actually *.msstyles and not *.theme.

Try to install it like StyleXP tells you and then try opening it the same way that you would open the luna theme from Microsoft.

I'm a newbie, and I am trying to convert mss styles into windowblinds. At first I thought it was me, but each one I have tried to convert has been missing the Start Button. In analyzing the skin it states that a mandatory image is missing but will supplyment a "default file". All the styles show a start button. When I test and apply the skin, it applies fine except for the start button. What am I missing? Skinning is new to me and I thougt I learn by conversion first before I try to make my own skins. Can you point me in the right direction? Thanks!
