Recoloring of windowblind skins

the first and easiest way is to go into the windowblinds dialogue and choose change skin color. If the skin doesn't except this you can force it to totally change color. However this might not be the desired effect. Otherwise you can use skinstudio to select the different parts of the theme to change color and manually change their color. I think skinstudio might be able to do this, but If you have a program like photoshop you can do a better job with it.

I will try give that a shot. I have photoshop, I think its 7, but to be honest I haven't even installed it and played with it. A family member gave it to me because they don't use it, but I haven't attempted anything in it.

It has a very steep learning curve, you might have better luck finding some tutorials on how to use photoshop and following them in your photoshop before you attempt to change anything in a skin. You might mess up the skin permenently and have delete it then reinstall it. From what I've been reading about cs it has a color changing tool that would make life really easy for what you are trying to do.

Steep learning curve probably putting it mildly from some of what I have seen. I have also backed up all my skins I have downloaded so if I do mess one up I still have it. I consider myself a newbie when it comes to creating the skins, so I figure recoloring is as good a place to start as any.

Recoloring in Skinstudio is about as easy as it gets.

Perhaps I'm splitting hairs, but I think there's a big difference between re-coloring, and colorizing. SS will colorize, re-coloring requires hands-on editing.

You are probably right Koasati, I probably should of stated better what I meant. This is what I would like to do. Say I download a windowblind that is blue and like the layout and everything but decide I want it purple instead where would I go about doing this? Like I said I know I have seen or read somewhere how to do it, just dummy me couldn't remember. I didn't know if it was easier to use SS or do it from the config in windowblinds. I have only played with changing the colors of icons so far so I am still learning and wanted to try this.

Try this, many people swear by this feature, and you may too............... Open the WB config dialog. On the right side of the dialog you'll see Change skin colour, click it, and you'll get another dialog........ check Enable custom colour support, you may have to check Force the skin to have the colour even if it does not explicitly. Play around with the controls, and you may accomplish what you want. The problem I have with this feature is it tints the entire skin (colorize) if you want to change the color of specific parts, you must re-color those parts one at a time in a image editor.

Ok, thanks Koasati I will give it shot. I really do want to play around with it. Figure it the first steps to figuring out how to do one myself.

Koasati...I was able to make a blue skin green...only affecting the blue tones,nothing else.Using the fuzziness feature.To me that is recoloring because nothing but the blue areas where affected.You can recolor any thing in a skin to suit that way instead of a global colorizing that happens if you dont use the fuzziness feature.All accomplished in minutes.

Aslo if you happen to think of anything else might be useful let me Know. I am really interested in learning how to make all OD skins and how they work. I think I have to did deep down to see if I can be as creative as most are on this site.

You should be able to change skin color from Windowblinds config. If you can't you probably need to upgrade.

Hi, I change my skin colours in photodraw. It does the trick. I have coraldraw, but have not yet figured out how to use it.

I have been having coloring problems with WB 4.2 build 116-NXP. After I open up a few windows all of the bitmaps start to go black.

I don't know what build that is but the new build 4.20b[b].002 for object desktop got rid of most of the black things that came up with several early betas.
