Toolbar icons...why are there so many?

I'm running XP pro and half those icons are not even available for the toolbar.Do they show up somewhere else or on different OS's?They are .tga's,would they even work on anything less than win2000?Or would they just look crummy?(mine have drop shadows, was that a mistake?)They are a lot of work,do we really need them all?

I run xp pro too and I don't know either After I did the ones I could actually see I noticed that most of them were MIA anyways. My suggestion: do the ones you see and leave the ones you don't

I think a lot of them show in different applications, such as Office, but I'm not sure about that. There's definitely a boat load that I've never seen or have a clue what they are.

Some of them show up and some of them don't depending on how one has thier toolbar set. In other words if you right click on your tool bar and choose "customize" , you can set which icons you want to display, both in windows explorer and IE. And as Koasati stated, I think some of them only show up with certain apps.

Thats my point crissy, some dont even appear in the customise dialog...me hates skinning stuff I cant even see or use.
Knatzz,I'm tempted to do just that...but soon as I do,someone will come along that CAN see them and complain "you didnt skin these icons"
Like I told you Koasati,Office people should be working, not looking at pretty icons, hehe.

Of all the things I've been told I should fix on my last try, the toolbar icons haven't come up once! And I left out some of the more obvious ones too! I'd say it's not about doing them all, it's about how they all look with your design when it's done.

16 Icons for IE
47 for Windows Explorer
6 for Miscellaneus
and Go Button

heh this is probably longest process of creating a Blind now and 7 AVI's but these certainly are a nice feature to add when your design is finnished.

shadows will work fine just as long as you dont go beyond 24x24 for large & 16x16 for small set you'll be fine, any icons you dont wish to use just leave them blank as to leaving default xp set as it will look better than having mixed icons.

I did finally find some of the odd ones ,they were visible in the fonts folder.

Luckily I mede most of them transparent so they will work on other skins and still be a perfect color match.
