Scrollbar Thumb problem

 1. This how the Scrollbar Thumb appears in most windows.

2. Scrollbar Thumb in IE, and SDC.

3. This is the top of the Scrollbar Tray. where the extra bit is coming from in image 2.

Any ideas what's going on here?

(image is magnified 150% for a better view of the problem)

The scrollbar thumb has grew a pair of antennas, bit hard to tell from that screen, but is margins off at all or skinmetrics?

Ah it might be margins on actual scrollbar shaft, if actual thumb uses magic pink at all this can sometimes happen, use to get this on certain mac style themes.

If it were margins, or skinmetrics, wouldn't it be wrong in all windows, As it is, only IE, and SDC display it with antenna?
Image is TGA.

It might just be a transparency glitch with IE, try blending actual image onto the scrollshaft to see if it dissapears... use it as bmp instead just to see if it is any better.

As it is I have alot of problems with scrollbars in firebird. they do some pretty wierd things. Its understandable for both firebird and ie though: firebird has a complete custom ui engine, while ie has a custom engine to draw the scroll bars thus allowing it to show special scrollbars in webpages. Since these both are not the same as windows it will just take a lot of finagling to sovle. As for SDC I don't know how that works besides the fact I can download my stardock stuff from it

I had completely forgotten about the scrollbars in IE not being standard. SDC uses IE for the browser, and disucussions, so that explains why it's effected the same way.
Drat and darn! I went the TGA route because I was using a blended image at first, and that caused it's own problem with the scrollbar design. Back to the drawingboard it seems.........
Thanx guys!

If you mean, am I working a new skin?.......... yes!
About 70% complete (if I leave out toolbar icons, and animations). Check my profile for a sneak peek.

You can still have it looking like its alpha blended, just have the thumb over scrollback as a bitmap for it to look like its semi-trans.

I like it. and yes thats what I meant. Those technical drawings or whatever they are really make it look nice. I got my hands on some icandy junior animations. Granted they are in the wrong color, but I think they would look good. Of course you would need permission, but I am sure that wouldn't be a problem. They look good...I stuck them in a skin and liked it.

If you want to see what I'm doing look at my profile
And I think I have finished it, just waiting to get in contact with ChaNinja

Koasati, mine does it too,I dont think its a prob with just the thumb button tho...seems to grab the the entire slider background and pulls it along with it.The mouseover states dont work either.Outlook express does it in the message pane too......Looks like another MS inconsistency. Not sure what can be done about it

VF,thats were the problem started,I see it in lots of skins, the thumb button and scoll back will have an unusual design(rounded top) that looks bad when the scrool button is at the extremes of the back, unless it is transparent. For some reason IE is using transparency but dragging the background along with it.

If he uses a blended bitmap,he will have the same problem with (or exact opposite prob, depending on how he blends it)Explorer as well, instead of just IE.Does anybody know how to fix this?
