Getting sub <10 FPS with 1.05 on a C2D/GTX260

The game is basically unplayable unless I use the cloth map. The 1.0/1.01 builds were just as bad.

System is a C2D E6700, GTX260, 4 gigs of ram, Vista, latest drivers etc. I can run Stalker or Starcraft 2 np, but Elemental is killing my PC

I've tried various graphic options, but they don't seem to help.
