Maybe I'm just missing something...

When other races come to you and say, "We would like to trade tech" and it shows what they want you to give and what you are going to get.

Is there ANY way of seeing what the tech they are offering even does? How am I supposed to gauge if it's a good trade or not?

The other is, are all wormholes temporary? What's the point in all wormholes being temporary (if they are?) since only survey ships can enter them. It would be different if I could pop a constructor through and drop down a starbase or something.

Thanks!

The point is they are random events, that have a not-so-random effect *I almost always get teleported to someplace nearby, and most of the time its to a place I've already been to :P. Go figure.*

As for gauging if its a good trade or not- the computer does not give good trades. It simply doesn't happen. You either TAKE it, or you don't get it cheaply.

Almost alway true. But as you play more, you will find the AI offering up Battleship, Dreadnought or Avatar, etc for some obscure cheapo tech that you have. It's rare though.

I play in windowed mode, and keep "Javascout's give pdf summary" handy. I look up the relative research cost before deciding if I want the trade.

The AI-proposed trades don't seem to follow a set pattern. Allegedly, AI trading will be improved in the expansion.
