Cancelling Projects and Trade Goods (Bug?)

I culture flipped a Drengin planet, and saw that it was my best one. So what I did was went to one of my planets that had all the capitals, and system exclusive bonuses (via social projects) and I went to it and cancelled (deleted) those projects. Then I waited a turn, and then wanted to move the ones I deleted off a old planet onto my newer and better planet. Unfortunatley I found when I cancelled (deleted) those projects on my previous planet, they were gone forever. Is this supposed to happen?

Also...

Along similar lines in the same game, I had noticed the minor civs were getting all the trade goods (I had only built one or two). So I decided to invade their planets, all the minor civs. To my disappointment, I never aquired those trade goods from conquering their plantes, or even the galactic wonders. Nor could I build them.

Just wanted to know if any of the above is normal or if its a bug. Thanks.

I think I've seen this question posed before but I don't remember getting an answer to it... anyone have an answer or a link to an odl thread that does?

I guess, because you can inherit capitals from other civs, once you build your capital it's there to stay.

I'm looking for a way to move the capital star system away from sol. Anyone know anything about that?

That's normal behavior. If you want the trade goods you have to trade for them before you invade. Wonders are completely non-transferable.

It makes a certain amount of sense I suppose. The wonders could be thought of as linked to the culture that built them, a conquering horde just can't utilize them the same way. As for trade goods, maybe they destroy the plans before you can get to them? I also believe this is fairly common 'super-project' behavior in similar games, CivIII for example.

As for Capitals, I agree that it should be possible to disband one and rebuild it elsewhere, again see CivIII fro precedent. In fact I thought this was possible, I guess I'm mistaken.

Isin't the Trade Goods that you trade with another empire supposed to last for only 20 turns?

Even trading a Trade Good from a minor (or major) doesn't mean that you can take that and trade it with another empire that doesn't have it. They would have to go to the empire that made it. Therefore, even if I did trade before invade, I highly doubt that I would permanently own the Trade Good. I'll have to test it to see what happens.

Once you trade for a trade good you receive the benefits forever. As you said, you can't trade it to anyone else so, after you invade, that trade good is 'closed'; only those who've already traded for it can ever receive the benefits.

The only potential bug in relation to TGs is that although it has a home planet, losing that planet does not prevent the original owner from still trading it. Since it can't be stolen, either, why does it exist on any planet at all?

If you capture a planet with a capital, you get to have the benefit of more than one capital. If you haven't built your capital yet, you can still build one.

If you capture a planet that's building a capital that you've already built, DONT CHANGE THE SOCIAL PROJECT!!!! You can let it complete, and you still get the 2nd captial!! (That's what I think happens. Can anyone else confirm this?)

You can't move your racial capital from Sol. This is explained in the official documentation. According to the manual, AI players do get the ability to move their capital, but has anyone seen this in-game? Does Sol get any sort of bonus by being your racial capital? I haven't noticed any, other than the fact that it's a good PQ planet that I start developing on turn 1.

You cannot get wonders or trade goods when conquering. Some wonders give both a civ-wide and planetary bonus. If the wonder has a planetary bonus, I think you keep that bonus when you capture the planet. You can't gain the civ-wide bonus. If an AI player has a trade good, the only way to get it is to trade for it before they're eliminated. (Some people say that you can get a trade good by conquering the planet that built it. Has anyone performed an experiment to confirm this? If this does happen, I believe it's a bug.)
