Question about Star Hawks and Rangers

By the time you research the technology to build these guys, aren't all the anomolies and other 'goody-huts' pretty much gone from the map by then?

Anyone have an opinion or advice on this? They're still decent ships, but ...

I'm with you... all anomolies are gone before they're available, and there are better ships to build.

Would it make sense to have anomolies respawn at random intervals? Have less available at the beginning and have some show up once in a while?

Anomolies actually do respawn at random intervals,
though its rather slow and could probably be faster
except that endless bonuses could become quite excessive.

Rangers are actually a bit tougher then dreadnoughts
with a much better line of sight and can be worthwhile
to build a few so that your fleet isnt blind.

Assuming you dont get eyes of the universe or some
galactic event.

They are also faster.

In my last game most of my attack fleet was Rangers, then had few that were on autoattack just in case enemy tried to move something on my territory. Then had Dreadnoughts (and Rangers) in hot spots. And some Battlehammers (and Dreadnoughts) on planets.

Yes Staffa, the 'blind fleet' issue has recently motivated me to add a sensor drone to all warship fleets (e.g. a fleet of Dreadnoughts and Combat Transports). Really helps a lot.

Fighting blind is never a smart idea unless you are sure of military supremacy.

Remember the Art of War, know your enemy and know yourself and you'll win every single battle. That is why i have a fleet of scouts and later sensor drones for advanced scouting. Extremely cheap way of getting a clear tactical advantage.

Of course you won't win every single battle, but if you can't win it it'll help you avoid them.

Oh yeah, last posts was a bit off topic, but I was getting to the point.

Rangers have the speed and sight to seize the initiative during any counterattack by the computer.

apparently Staffa knows the importance of initiative quite well - conquering all alien planets in one turn, the same turn he declares war.
