command line option to bypass intro movies?

Is there one? I tried moving intro and sf movies from the movie directory which works - but the game locks up when trying to exit.

Look for the unofficial faq thread and link (used to be sticky now should be a few days old). It has instructions on renaming the relevant intro movies.
