I usually shut the thing off. But I believe it is based off of envoy ships and diplomacy research.

I agree. But is not only about envoy ships becouse i had more envoy ships than the AI and i loose

I will put it OFF

The AI researched in diplomacy more than you. Actually i think that turning it off will cripple the AI: when it sees that can't win by military force, it will research alternate ways.

I love the AI in SOASE.
Is smart. in others games the AI is very stupid.

Well, smarter anyways.  Unfortunately, it's not smart enough to give a real challenge to advanced players like me...

nope, it does a fairly decent job but once you figure out the pattern *cough* starbases *cough* its dead in the water everytime

Definitely, the AI's inability to counter and utilize defensive positions (starbases being the most obvious) effectively is its greatest weakness.  I've always been disappointed that they never fixed that.

I think the issue is with the anti-structural units. TEC has always forced me to play a little more cautious due to the AI spamming Orgovs. I have seen numbers as high as 40 from them. I almost lost a starbase there. But after that, Advent or Vasari just don't compare. Sure with the Advent sometimes I lose the support structures like repair bays and hangars, but the Vasari, never ever lose. Especially with the Transcendence and its Mass Disruption ability.

Yea I have had a TEC Cruel AI dump 20+ ogrovs in a grav well... if no fleet is present then the SB is pretty screwed. However, thats a HUGE investment from the AI and one that is so easy to trap and exterminate.

The problem with 20 Ogrovs is that it represents 240 fleet supply.  That disproportionate expenditure leaves you quite vulnerable to a conventional fleet, so even if you do beat the starbase, you'll just be blunted when the enemy defenders show up and a new starbase will be up before you know it.

a vasari cruel ai once overwhelmed my fully upgraded transcencia at a wormhole (10000+ hullpoints, full weapon upgrades, lvl 2 meteors, lvl 1 mass disorient, culture) with a varied fleet (lots of enforcers) while my own fleet was away, then proceeded to ravage my more vulnerable worlds

Does turning off dip vic make diplomacy research redundant ?

No, only locking teams and giving yourself no allies does that.  You're still able to make alliances and pacts.
