Exits at start with biggest galaxy (again)

Hmm now when I start a game with the biggest galaxy it's abouyt 70% chance of success. The other times it exits the desktop. The only error I see is
Debug Message: Possible error: number of fields is not exact.

And about memory...(I'm using windows xp)
Physical mem 196Mb
Limit (with swap) 478Mb.
Peak 234Mb

Ummm wll, my comp doesnt behave like it's out of mem...it isnt lightning fast but no other games/applications complains. Niether is the OS...which it does if one runs out of memory.

I just tried the gigantic galaxy for the first time and it quit too. But it froze up
my OS completely. Only a BRS would work. It left my screen in a very strange condition,
black with white spots (perhaps similar to the star field background for the game) on the
upper half with lines and bars in the lower half.

I have noticed the same error message in the debug file many times, and no apparent problems.
I have the debug saved. If some Stardock person would like to see it, let me know (here or via
e-mail) and I will send it.

Cheers,
Jack

Ugh...I guess I'm going to have to start testing more on gigantic galaxies...

Well that was bizarre...I started playing on a gigantic galaxy. Didn't have any problems starting up, but then the game crashed because the keyboard focus was null but not its callback...

Ummm at every crash at start of a game with the biggest map, the last I get in the debug.err is:
Debug Message: Reading Star Names
Mmm makes me wonder what the game does after that :-)

Is there any way to get a more detailed logging?

Ummm I think I solved this one.

I doubled the stars.lst
(so it's 22k in size instead of 11k)

After that Ive started 10 games with the biggest galaxy and none have crashed. That has never happened before..previous record was 3 LOL

With the build for 1/18/02 I played a gigantic galaxy without researching nanofrequencyelecctronics for about 10 hours without it
crashing. My intent had been to see if there was another tech that might cause it to crash, but it took
to long. Without the save/load game options, this is as far as I can go.

Jack

Hmm..last time I checked, there were enough star names in the list...(including the duplicates) but maybe you all have an older version.
