Minidumps

Suddenly a problem shortly after loading saved game

Never had this happen in the past year I've owned and enjoyed Sins Trinity. Now however, I'm getting minidumps shortly after loading a saved game or starting a new one. I did as the pinned Sins Tech thread instructed and sent a Dxdiag zip along with an explanation of the problem and game serial to Ironclad Support, but you guessed it...still waiting on reply.

So for now, I'm biding my time with a good game of Europa Universalis III Heir to the Throne. I miss my Sins however. Any help would be most appreciated, escpecially from someone who has shared in this misfortune and managed to resolve the matter. Oh, and I've already done an uninstall and reinstall.

Thanks in advance,

SkyWarder

Start the game using the DEV.exes in the root directory. It will point out errors a lot of the time before dumping.

Did you verify install with impulse? Did you download a new game from impulse? Bought over the counter games are different depending on age.

I am assuming no mods are enabled.

I'll try the DEV.exes. Yes, I did verify install with impulse, and Sins was purchased and downloaded through Impulse as well. Also, I have no mods installed, and never have for Sins or any other Stardock game I own.

Thanks for your help myfist0. Let me give your suggestion a try.

Not sure that it matters, but I uninstalled Sins Trinity through Impulse and likewise installed. Perhaps I should have used Add/Remove Programs to be sure the reinstall was clean?

Either way leaves lots of files behind. I don't think uninstalling removes anything from the appdata (Mods, Saves, Maps, Settings) so I am not sure about that.

Thanks. Also, I tried running in DEV.exe mode, and it did create a debug log, but the file had no information stored and the game load did another minidump. It seems to minidump near the end of the saved game load, or new game load.

Thanks again for the input. I'll keep at it. If I have to I'll just try another reinstall. It just takes time despite having DSL.

Apparently, due to consistant minidumps at save game load, Sins is now suddenly unplayable for me.  Ironclad isn't answering my email (there's a shocker), and reinstalling doesn't help. Sigh...oh well, back to Civ IV and EU3.
