Problems with update (Ultimate Edition)

Hi,

So here I am - after buying, installing I tried to download latest patch via impulse. My first attempt failed miserably - as Impulse announced my HD space was too low (532MB or sth required). Ok, I made more space on C: and tried again. This attempt was reported as correct, but... there are two things that worries me.

First, as I watched the instalation process very closely, Impulse downloaded only ca 17MB data. That's not the problem at all, but what about this 530MB of free space he needed earler? And second thing - I've noticed in log many downloading errors. Unfortunatelly I can't paste it here, as it was deleted when I changed Impulse temporary directories place.

So, my question is - am I correctly upgraded or not? Impulse says yes, the game launches correctly, and reports latest version 2.03 - but I really don't want to find out that I'm playing game with incompleted changes - only because some files were missed while upgrade. Is there any (easy) way to validate it? Or maybe someone could provide me correct CRCs to the latest version files? Even complete directory listing (with size of files) would be appreciated. I just want to be sure and finally play the game.. :(

Thanks in advance,

BW

Shift right click the game in Impulse and you'll find just such an option.

Thank you for response, but I still don't know where it is and what to do. Did you mean re-activate? Maybe I should uninstall, and try to install again but I'm saving it for last resort option.

Hold down the shift key on your keyboard as you right click on it just like you did in your screen shot. When you do it that way a "Verify Installation" item will appear in the menu. On mine it's the third from the bottom.

*forehead slap* how did I missed this "shift" in kryo response... v_v

Thank you very much, both of you - it worked. My copy was verified as correct one, so my worries were apparently unnecessary. Still, my opinion about Impulse sunk even lower: first strange and unnecesary HD space demands, and now such vital option so thoroughly hidden... geez :/

I entered a ticket yesterday 20May2011. I'll post here too on the chance others may have similar issues.

I bought GalCiv2 Ultimate Ed (GC2UE) from Amazon. Installed OK.

Then I downloaded and installed Impulse. The MyGames tab shows GC2UE, update available, v1.97 (v2.03 available).

I created the registration entry, but got a registration for GC2EU (endless universe), not GC2UE.

I tried all 5 GC2 game choices - all registered as GC2EU. Apparently my reg key is specific to that variation of the game?

Impulse showed 2 entries - GC2UE (Stardock, status Update Available) and GC2EU (Kalypso, status Uninstalled). Both showed my reg key in View Registration.

I tried Installing GC2EU (a looong download, no request to insert the DVD).

GC2EU status is now Recently Installed, v2.03. Verify Install is "Installed Correctly".

GC2UE still shows Update Available, but update fails with message "your registration for this product is not valid". Verify Install is "Not Installed Correctly - Look For Update".

I also downloaded and ran the fix_registration.reg file with no effect.

My best guess is that my UE mistakenly got stickered with a EU serial code. Whatever the cause, it's hard to believe that registration issues haven't been fixed at this stage of the product's lifecycle...

Unfortunately we do not have direct control over the manufacturing process, and mix-ups such as this sometimes occur. Support should be able to sort things out for you when they address your ticket.

Thanks for the prompt reply - hopefully they'll get to my ticket sometime this week. In the meantime I can learn the basics on the un-updated version...

Follow-up - Problem resolved - Got an e-mail from Stardock Support today - they re-registered my UE with a corrected serial# and Impulse let me run the v2.03 update...

Good job Stardock!

I'm having a similar problem. Bought the hard copy of the ultimate edition published by Kalypso and Impulse wont recognize the serial. Kalypso got back to me quick saying the serial was from Impulse and to contact them. I'm 4 days into waiting for a response...
