Transparent Desktop Icons

I recently upgraded from the shareware version of WB 3.5 to the registered version of 4.1 on Windows 2000. Before upgrading, the background on the text for the desktop icons were transparent - now they have a solid background. I cannot figure out how to change them back. Can anyone help?

What did you use to make them transparent before?

There was some setting/check box to set the background to transparent on 3.5, but I can't find it on the new version.

Would that work on Windows 2000? I'm just really confused on how it was transparent before but not now.

Not sure about 2000 but on XP...

RightClick on Desktop>Properties>Desktop>CustomizeDesktop>Web Tab...Make sure the box that says 'Lock Items on Desktop' is not selected.

If I have that selected on my Desktop the 'Text Background' shows on all the Icons.

A free program called 'iconoid' will make them trans again, plus will hide them if you like until you move your mouse.I liked it when I used desktop icons.(dont anymore)
