Problem with logonstudio

I have just downloaded the loginstudio, this looks like a really nice addition to the customization tools.

Unfortunately I am having a problem getting it to work. The logon screen is grabbled. E.g. if I choose any of the three sample welcome screens the image on the right hand side is messed up. Instead of going across the screen, only the top 1/5 goes across the full screen and the rest is chopped off and appears as black, rather like an inverted "L" shape.

I really liked the logoff screen matching the logon screen, alas this had the same issue. Any ideas as to the cause of my problem?

I am running XP Home Ed with SP1 and all the latest patches Microsoft send via auto update apart from 811493.

I am a newbie to this so I could be doing something wrong, any help appreciated.

What resolution are you using?
The Logon screens on the sample are for 1024 X 768 resolution screens.
If you are using a higher resolution, then you'll have to set the center image Style to 'Strecthed'

Thanks for the advice, yes I run at 1200 x 1024 screen res. I tried changing the center image style to stretch. This worked in that the black bits were removed, but the image was not so hot when stretched. I guess the best bet is to find (or make) a logon at this screen res.

I also noticed that you can edit the messages. Some of the logons include a %s which I guess is a variable for the computer name. This does not work for me, it just displays "turn off %s" . How do I get the variable subsitution to work? Is there something I need to turn on?

Thanks

Open your LogonStudio and click on the 'HELP' button. This will take you to a short tutorial and will show you how to change things around.

Thanks Apocalypse_67, I had a look at the tutorials and had a good look at the default XP logon to understand what the various parts of the logon screen are.

I had noticed that the welcome themes included with LogonStudio had the shutdown string as "Turn of %s" and I had hoped that %s was a variable that referenced the actual computer name. Alas all I get this the actual string including the %s. I have now changed this to the less exciting "turn off computer". I have downloaded your epoc logon, but I haven't figured out yet how you get the number of emails and programs running info!

The information about emails and running programs are extended by the computer it self.
If you clik on any area of the screen other than the user window, the user window will dim and it will display the information about running programs and emails.

I found this Microsoft article: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;304148

It explains which applications update the unread mail fields. These are Outlook Express and Windows Messenger. As I use Outlook 2002 I will never see this info. I thought I would share this in case others are puzzled why they do not see the unread email notification on the logon screen.

I downloaded Logon Studio a few days ago. It works fine, but when I try to download a big logon studio file, I get a bunch of junk; bitmaps, having to compress and/or extract all files. May I get somebody to show me how to load a logon studio file that needs to be extracted?
