Hi gang, well, Stardock + WinCustomize had over 75,000 visitors in a single day yesterday. This kind of traffic would put us within the top 500 most popular websites worldwide if we maintained that level. Luckily for our bandwidth, it won't stay that high. But it does represent a sneak peak of what is likely to occur once Windows XP ships.

But as a result, during these peek hours, we're going to start requiring those who wish to use the skin library to create an account (which is free). As soon as the traffic curves back to normal somewhat we can return to the unrestricted library access.

Remember when the screen saver AfterDark came out. It started a huge craze for screensavers. Everyone wanted to have their own unique screensaver. I personally expect that XP's visual styles will do the same thing and cause the skinning community too boom!

After all look how popular skinning is for ICQ and WinAmp. The general user usually tends to use one of the programs and gets introduced to skinning that way. Once they find out they can change the look and feel of their entire desktop they are going to want to try that out. And through word of mouth, search engines, articles and etc, they will start to find out about Windowblinds and the the products we support here and eventually find their way here.

So in my opinion, its definitely going to happen (Increased traffic), the question is, just how much?

Paxx...I don't consider my self to be any more intelligent or capable than the 'average' user...and I found WindowBlinds....and eFX and LiteSTEP and all sorts of things....and I did that a long time before it was as well known as it is now.
There is a very good chance that things WILL get bigger...

I'm pretty sure that Stardock's sales and marketing guys will make sure the masses know about WindowBlindsXP. That will, in turn, drive people to this site and raise awareness of skinning. Which will then lead those same people into using the other skinnable apps that are here. MS has legitimized skinning and is bringing it mainstream. People will soon crave it.

nobody knows about windows xp yet. but when they do you will hav ethe people who will want to make their computers look like xp and that will be that.

I give up.. I have been trying to download one simple package for over an hour... This is 'simply put' a joke.

Ever heard of mirror sites? I am on Cable access at home and OC3 at work and this site is so sucked dry its not even worth visiting, cause you can't DL anything 80% of the time...

I dunno, I'm at home and just downloaded a DesktopX theme from here at 300K per sec. We're not tapped out on bandwidth right now.
