OH NO! What did BootSkin do to my computer!?

WinCustomize Forums
Hello. I downloaded BootSkin from the Stardock website to change my boot screen skin. I correctly installed it (I run Win XP Pro) and downloaded some boot screens from wincustomize.com but none of them would work, I kept getting an error message. But I don't care about that. When I applied one of the skins that came with BootSkin and I rebooted I got an error message in DOS saying "sorry for the inconvenience but Win XP did not load correctly." Then I was given options to either boot normally or boot using changes that were know to work, or something like that. I tried starting up like normal and the same problem happened. I tried booting with the changed settings option and it did boot, but now I get an error message that says "RUNDLL: Error loading C:\WINDOWS\System32\NvCpl.dll. A dynamic link library (DLL) initialization routine failed," my monitor resolution is now at 4bit and cannot be changed and there's a piercing whine coming from my speakers. I tried using BootSkin to restore my boot skin to default and it is now back to the original boot skin but the problem persists. What has happened? I didn't do anything wrong. I thought this wasn't supposed to happen. I could use system restore but I've never used it before and I would have to save some data to disk (assuming that's possible under these conditions). What can I do? Thank you for any information you can give.
