Does USB 1.1 work on 2.0?

Does anybody know if USB 1.1 devices can be plugged in to USB 2.0 ports? Thanks.

Yeah, Usb 2.0 is backwards-compiable with 1.0 and 1.1 USB devices.

Could not find anything in the bios. Just a jumper on the mobo and it's already enabled. There are two other usb headers. One for 1.1 and one for 2.0. I have an extra usb jack that goes in the pci slot (blue connector), but that doesn't work either. Guess it's just fried.

I also just installed MS Service Pack 1, and the USB 2.0 drivers from the mobo cd. (Asus A7V333)
No go.

What is the device you are trying to use?

Are you sure it's not the other way around that you have a USB 2.0 device that your connecting to USB 1.1?

Some devices can't do this.

No, I don't have any 2.0 devices, yet. I was getting ready to and wanted to make sure the 2.0 ports worked. Apparently they don't. I will just buy one of those pci cards when the time comes. Thanks anyway.

As a tech here is what I know on this;

2.0 is backwards compatible, 1.x should work in it, the OS (Windows) needs the drivers for 2.0 from the mother board CD, or from the makers website. When using 1.x, devices will work at 1.x speeds just as if you were using 1.x ports.

1.x can not support 2.0 devices nor should they fit as 2.0 plugs are a little bit different, but the 2.0 jacks support both.
