Greetings all, has been a rough few days since Sandy came to New Jersey and the rest of the East coast. We didn't lose power however, my neighbors 2 blocks over has been with out power since the storm, that's more than 2000 people including businesses like auto shops and McDonald's.
We lost our internet which came back just before 10pm EST last night, can't complain when there are over 20000 people in Hoboken still surrounded by flood water with no power and the temps have been dropping in to the mid forties so yeah, it's getting cold.
And the gas situation isn't funny, my wife has seen personally people standing in line at the Shell, which is 3 blocks from the house. Get in to fist fights over gas, while the police where keeping watch, 2 hours to get 5 gallons, that's crazy. Greyhound started moving, but because the schools are shut down, had to stay home with the little one. Yesterday, would have been my first trip out but they had everything shut down, so now in my days off round so my next trip won't be until Sunday.
Long story short me and the family are fine, but pictures don't do justice on how everyone is feeling here, I do believe it's gonna be a long cold winter in the East....
[Updated at 10:17 a.m. ET] The National Weather Service has two warnings for people in the New York-New Jersey area for the next week: it's going to get cold and more rain, snow and gusty winds may be on the way.
Temperatures are expected to drop into the 30s beginning tonight through the next week. "Those without power should be prepared for a number of cold nights ahead," forecasters said Friday.
In addition, a new coastal storm may hit the area next week. "This storm has the potential to bring strong gusty winds, rain/wintry precipitation, and coastal flood," the weather service said.
