Can't Update Through Stardock Central

I have been having a problem downloading the updates the last couple of days. I went into the Tools/Settings/Connection and refreshed the list and now it only has one server listed (California1). Every time I try to download something it complains that the block size was wrong (or something like that).

This is now happening on EVERY download through SDCentral (obviously on different files). I can no longer download ANYTHING! I was just trying to update my WB...

First try the FAQa.

Open SDC's Help menu, select Online Support and then click Frquently Asked Questions. A website appears. Select Stardock Central from the combo box. You may find your problem listed there.

If not then try tech support:

Open SDC's Help menu, select Online Support and then click Submit Problem. A website appears with a form. Read what info you should supply. Enter that and your problem and submit.

I hope this helps.

There's nothing in the FAQ about SDC concerning this issue..........    What version of SDC are you using? Have you tried uninstalling, reboot and reinstall?

Log out of WC. Re-install SDC https://www.stardock.com/sdnet_login.asp right over the one you have. Re-boot. Make sure you're set to accept cookies and log back into SDC and go to settings/connection and set server to Atlanta. Re-start SDC and it should be good to go.

I did all of this and still the same problem. It then asked me if I wanted to update Stardock Central, I chose yes and it still is a problem.

Also, after I chose to update Stardock Central, I'm back to only having California1. Before I updated SC, I had Atlanta and California.

Is there a way to install the latest WB without SC? That's all I want... I want to install WB again (I had previously uninstalled).

Are You behind a professional firewall ? Gave me some problems from time to time...

I would imagine that I am. As I have said, I have used this tool before and I am just looking for a way to install/reinstall the most recent WB. Hopefully, there is another way to do this.

Don't think it's the Firewall only because SDC appears to be setting up wrong. Try it again, but do not update and see if you have the Atlanta server. Also, if that fails, you can drop a line to Stardock Support and they can give you a link to WB4. mailto:[email protected]

One more thought...if you have a 'Cookie Killer' running, kill it while you do this.

The thing that gets me on this is that I get some of the files, but at some point, it just stops and complains (like the message above). It is always the same file for each product (different files overall). No type of cookie killer or anything else running.

BTW, I just did a refresh on the servers, and Atlanta and California are both listed again. I still have the same problem no matter which I choose.

Let's go back to what c242 asked....what kind of Firewall is it. (Hardware or Software or both)

The Atlanta server is down for the count. U have to use the other option. u must do a internet cache and cookie clean up. Reboot ur machine. Go to sdc central (update) reboot machine then your downloads will work right.

It's been almost two weeks now and I still have not received anything other than an automated response to my support email. This is frustrating, all I want to be able to do is install/reinstall WB, my registration for this program is up-to-date... it is quite frustrating at this point.

I wouldn't hold your breath. I sent off a support request email about a month ago regarding WB. Stated how I couldn't get it to run anymore after the last update. Got nothing.

Had to wade through it myself. Finally got it to work but then it can't be called from SC anymore, that's for sure.

OK, here is how I resolved the problem (no thanks to SD!):

1. I uninstalled and removed all reference to WB from my system.
2. I downloaded and installed the shareware version of WB. (could not do this with SDCentral, had to use the shareware version of WB).
3. I loaded SDCentral and updated to the most recent version of WB and all has been well.

This is not the best method, but hey, it worked.
