Help With Hyperdesk

Now quit throwing rocks......

Guys, I know what you're saying, "Yuck!!  Why Hyperdesk?"

Well, back when Hyperdesk started, I bought a few. I only have XP Hyperdesk skins, so here is the problem.

I apply a theme and all is well, I reboot to windows classic. I have to reapply the Hyperdesk theme every reboot.

The only response I can get from Jeff is that I have Stardock programs installed and that he can't help it if Stardock software doesn't play well with Hyperdesk. (Direct quote, BTW.)

So, if any of you out there have a solution for this, please yak back.

You could use the msstyles importer to make those skins into WB ones and so avoid the need to use Hyperdesk at all.

As for the comment from Jeff, sounds like an excuse to me.

If WindowBlinds is not set to apply a skin it will not be doing anything to mess with hyperdesk and neither will any other Stardock software.  Chances are there is a bug in the Hyperdesk patch and the OS is checking the theme before the patch is running and so detects it is invalid and so reverts to the only native theme the OS has (Classic style)

As I suspected from back when Jeff was finishing the Vista 'patch' and 7 hadn't happened yet.

Is this conversion for xp only or is there a way to convert the files to work with Windows 7? I would love to convert star trek to a window blind file.

You know I take back some of what I said about hyperdesk. It has been a long time since I used hyperdesk but all this talk made me install the star trek theme again. To be honest the theme itself is not all that exciting. I think the best part of it are the cool original series icons and then the wallpaper.

I would love to see someone do a nice original series WB. I just cannot get into this Lcars stuff. Sorry RND I kind of hijacked your post.

That means you can only use them on Sunday? :P

Well, all I can say for certainty is that the MSImport app is XP only. Dunno anything more about it.

Only reason I bother is that I bought and paid for them, may as well get some use for my money. I only bought XP versions.

And I'm not all that certain of that...>_>

Once you convert it to WB, there is no reason you couldn't edit it further to be Win7 compatible. Wouldn't be easy, but it would be like updating any xp skin.

You may notice some bugs in the port Jim, like incorrectly imported margins in the splidropdownbutton on the toolbar and a missing glyph.  You would have to fix that in Skinstudio.  :)

First thing I do anyway.
