Laughing at the Irony...
I was in the grocery story last night, waiting for my daughter to finish her grocery shopping, when one of the employees came up to the register area and had to wait for a supervisor to come over and ok the ID check that was required because he was buying a bottle of cough syrup. That reminded me of how ironic it is that so many kids that had so little time and patience for learning in say a Chemistry class in High School are so fascinated by the topic in their everyday lives. Perhaps if the schools were to teach practical Chemistry instead, they'd get more participation and more learning....
Practical Chemistry curriculum:
* Proper blending of common chemicals to create high-inducing compounds
* How to use aerosols to....
You get the idea.
It really is a shame so many things are so easily warped and mis-used that we have to suffer the indignancy of showing ID just to get common cold meds in a grocery story. Buy too many of them and you could be labelled a drug dealer/user. Bleh.
