What is the world coming to?
Birds mysteriously falling out of the sky, fish dieing by the hundreds and hate-filled gunmen taking the lives of as many people as possible while trying to kill a congressperson. What the heck is wrong with the world we live in?!
I'm not a tin-foil hat wearing conspiracy theorist, but one does have to wonder just what is going on with the world and if perhaps all of these things are a sign that we are horribly off track and well off the path that some higher power might have intended for us, or, so would some hate-filled protesting church members try to imply as they get ready to go protest near the funerals of those that were struck by the tragedy in the Tucson area. A tragedy that the news networks quickly created impressive graphics for. Que the somber music. {shout! flash!} The "Tucson Tragedy" {more shouting, more flashing}. Cut away from the somber music.
Seriously, I have no idea what is going on, though having a bunch of loons protest that it's all because god hates {insert derogatory term here} or because we are too tolerant just burns my butt. I try not to hate and try to be as tolerant as I can. Hate the sin, love the sinner and all that. But in the end, I'd like the group of crazy protesters to be put on a bus that would perhaps take a ride off a cliff somewhere as their attention whoring efforts are doing absolutely nothing to change the world, except for perhaps to inspire yet more hatred of themselves and their supposed cause/message.
I feel horrible for the people whose lives have been so tragically disrupted thanks to what seems to be at best a mentally unstable individual. No one in their right mind, bar soldiers that have been ordered to capture or defend a piece of real estate somewhere and perhaps government assassins, should want to see someone killed much less want to do the killing themselves, but some people apparently can't draw the line between good and evil or at least they can't stop themselves at simply protesting and registering their displeasure through somewhat peaceful means rather than taking up arms and using radical means to try to achieve their goals.
In the case of the loony church members, as much as I despise what they are doing, I give them credit for refining their hatred to speech. At least they aren't taking up arms, though one might also wonder if perhaps some of their words aren't directly intended to cause others to take up arms and try to change the situation through less peaceful means.
I wish I could think of something much more cheerful to write about. There are other things going on in the world, but given what happened over this past weekend, none of that really seems that important or topic worthy. Perhaps I'll be inspired to write something more uplifting or pleasant later, but for now I think I'll go back to leaving my writing space blank for a while in honor of those whose lives were lost for absolutely no good reason.
