Game Play issues/bugs and faults so far

So far I've been playing the game and found a few issues, don't know if they're already logged but here are my thoughts:

1)      Can’t find inactive caravans, i.e. sent two to the same city, one will sit outside it inactive for eternity.  Maybe none combat units can be cycledthrough if not moving somehow

2)      Nice to see:

  1. Quest Log. or
  2. Able to review quest details after visiting a hut/notable location on the map.
  3. Change cloak colours so heroes can be easily found among troops in field.
  4. Some way to find defensive units in cities, i.e. hero ends turn in city and is never heard from again until to recall you haven’t seen her in a few turns.  Also for caravans and pioneers that are inactive in a city.
  5. More quests/random huts that appear if you research higher level quests?
  6. A tech tree in the game, not just a muddled tech description listing.

3)      In combat, positions are randomly assigned it appears.  This sucks as my hand to hand guys have to run around the bow/caster people.  Would make more sense if either you could assign a position (forward, mid, rear) to each unit in a stack or default in design screen for units.  Or you could override in a group with unique heroes. 

4)      Can’t hire heroes all the time.  Had 36 charisma, level 11 hero, 10k gildar with all tech to get heroes and they still wouldn’t join… Why? Don’t know.  Maybe I had maxed my number of heroes?

Don't know if this helps or hinders, hope it helps develop a better game.  All in all I like it though.

Additionally:

1) Dragon's fire breath attack animation remains on screen after use.

2) The number of huts that spawn for the last quest is not right.  I had 20-30 huts that all lead to that quest on a large map.  All but the one I hit disappeared when you started the quest.

3) When you teleport somewhere the group will try and run to the old destination still if they used to be headed somewhere.  You basically loose 2 turns from them to run back to the point to teleported to originally.

More:

To the first point 4:  Couldn't hire heroes again, found the message of why.  I needed 4,294,967,296.0 gildar to hire them.  I guess I had reset the negative to a really big positive.  I can add a link to a saved game if you'd like for this.  Just let me know.  Maybe I need a loan?

7) Resources:  Metal ore is too rare.  Should be more you can find throughout the land as you explore not just one or two little lumps near your start position.

8) Unit travel from point to point is bad.  They consistently run off roads or beside roads and around cities instead of through them.

9) Could just be me but can't figure out how to build a combat unit with multiple units in it (groups).  Researched the tech, build the command post now what the great blue blazes do you do?

When you go to build the unit there should be two rows of symbols near the top of the menu. On is veteran level the other is group size.

Meh, as it stands metal mines aren't that important. Just get the exploration tech that spawns a ventri mine. One ventri mine is worth three iron mines and is pretty much all you need.

@csparkin01 - what version of the game are you running?

The standard v1.11 is running currently.  I downloaded it and ran the update prior to playing at all.

note - I originally installed the limited edition and updated it to 1.11 but it was really f'ed up and the skin overlays had transparency issues and when you did play the first time you had a character advance to level 2 you couldn't assign points so you got stuck... so I tried the downloadable version.

If you some of the stuff you mentioned have been addressed in the beta patches. Open Impulse, got to options, click the button that says show pre-release versions. I recommend trying out the latest 1.19j[rc].

I loaded v1.19j, most issues are resolved thanks.

Freezes in combat, one party is dead and trun will not end.   And game crashed (out of memory) seem more frequent.

Yeah that's a funny one. I arcane weaponed a caravan once and saw the poor horse die many times - talk about beating a dead horse, doh!
