From the article, I got the impression I was fearing based my experience with Sims 3 and EA in general.  This is a boring, watered down, mainly pointless game.  It has nothing in actuality to do with adventuring or RPG, but plays like some partial management system of day to day chores, of some Sim, in a type of Medieval setting, with their interpretation of social interaction.  It doesn't even appear to have a decent design/build system this time around.  Basically a major snore-fest again.  I am looking for other opinions on the subject and their thoughts.

It is most likely true that you will not like the game. However I wouldn't necesarily say that this game feels typical of the sim series, it's a pretty interesting attempt at a fantasy simulation where everyone's job depends on everyone else's. It has a pretty detailed craftings system and an ok combat sytem (with moves, stats, equipment, etc.) and playing the game from the perspective of different jobs is quite different. It's just that even with all of those cool things, they don't really integrate them together into a fun game that well.  There is so much they could have worked with, but the actual quests are just a little too straightforward, at least in the parts that I have played.

So far I can agree with that.  I'm guessing (this being a Sims game heh) there will be plenty of expansions to liven things up.

I bought this game, I was in target and they were selling it for $40.  I'm a sucker for a deal.  It's still more a sims game than a RPG by far.  But, it is fun though, I don't know  for how long it will be.  I don't think you have any control over combat really.  Only 3 characters can learn combat, the Monarch, the Knight, and the Spy.  They learn new moves as they level up, I assume they use them automatically because I cant find a way to activate them.  They also learn new "Stances".  My knight had a daily quest to go into the forest and hunt, he kept failing and getting mauled by bears or boars and eventually he was covered in bandages and limping around.  It's fun, in a simple fun kind of way.  I guess if you were someone who almost liked the Sims, and you like quest, and medieval fantasy, you might like this game.

You can  click on your enemy in the middle of combat to choose a move to perform. It's more then a little clunky though.

Um, not that I wouldn't get a laugh if any of those were actually made, but they probably wouldn't sell very well.

But here's the thing.  I would normally ignore Justice League or  Command and Conquer games entirely, but throw in the word "Medieval" and I take a look. 

 

I would look at anything with Star Wars or Fallout in it, regardless.
