A big hindrance is the recharge outlet.  That will cost another pretty penny for most owners.

What are you talking about?

I plug it into a wall outlet.

Should be interesting to re-do that energy consumption analysis you did a couple of months ago now that you have the Volt.

Your house is not 30 years old either.  It would require a panel upgrade for me, and I am not going to fork out an extra $2-3k for one.

Your house doesn't have 110 volt outlets? It's a standard plug. It's nothing fancy. You just plug it into the wall, even in a 30 year old house.

Last paragraph in your link "from the horses mouth"

The 240-v charger is optional as the Volt can be recharged using the standard 120-v wall socket charger that comes with the car.  This would take about ten hours.

The optional charger described in the link would charge a depleted battery in about 4 hours.
