Strange behavior after new install on a new PC

With my old computer, no problem : I can still play a sandbox game either in DL or DA or TotA. Game and extensions were installed 3 years ago.

With my new computer and after a fresh install, everytime I started a sandbox game in DL, the game stopped after the "Selecting your opponents" screen (goes back to Windows). Same in DA. I could only start a sandbox game in TotA.

In DL, if I looked into Campaign, well, I saw... no campaign at all. Same in DA. But all the three campaigns appeared in TotA.

So I uninstalled everything, then installed only DL, today. I can't start a sandbox game and no campaign appears.

Of course, I could only play TotA, and not the others two, after reinstalling, but it's frustrating to have two different behaviors on my two computers.

Is there a problem with the Impulse installer ? Is it only possible to play in TotA now and not the others two ?

Please open your debug.err file in notepad, and copy/paste the contents into a post here. This will give us some technical information that can help troubleshoot your problem. The location you'll find the debug.err in varies depending on which game you're playing:

Dread Lords: My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2
Dark Avatar: My Documents\My Games\GC2DarkAvatar
Twilight of the Arnor: My Documents\My Games\GC2TwilightArnor

Older versions may store the debug directly in the location the game is installed at.

Be sure to copy the debug immediately after the error occurs; if you start the game again, the debug will be erased and recreated for the new session.

Thanks for your quick answer !

I only reinstalled DL for the moment. Here is my debug.err just after coming back to Windows.

I noticed the error message at the end of the log :

>>>

Debug Message: Creating Random Map... Planets

Debug Message: *************** Failed To Place Planet ***************

<<<

So I started the game again with a new parameter (Number of planets: Occasional => Common). Message gone, this time, but game is not starting. That's not it...

Last post in order to help you helping me.

When I want to look for the credits, no name appears !!!

I have the impression that the game doesn't know where to find the necessary information which in this particular case lies in :

D:\Jeux\GalCiv2\Data\English\credits.txt, if I am correct.

Maybe it is the same problem with the other data... for example : the Tutorial button is disabled, too.

Yep. Try this. Save the file and run it, agreeing to merge when prompted.
