desktop icons pushed out of fences! Why? Solution?

Tried finding a solution in the forums before posting - no joy.

I've been using the free version of fences on my computer for several years, never an issue. This morning I fired up old "iron sides" and found all the the shortcuts and icons pushed out of the fences - what a mess. I didn't install any software or make any changes to my computer, I've done nothing out of the ordinary.

My questions;

Is there a quick way to fix this?

What made it happen?

What can I do to keep it from happening again?

If you can't "Save settings" (I have the Pro Version) then just reinstall (from SD's website) and re-arrange. 

Could have been an update (MS or other) which caused  it to crash and lose things?

I had exactly the same problem and couldn't find a solution online.

Have just spent 10 minutes trying to sort it and in my case, this was the solution. There seemed to be a conflict between dexpot and fences. "Dexpot" was trying to "ALIGN TO GRID", Fences was trying to move them back. I disabled all dexpot plugins/add-ons leaving only DESKTOP PAGER enabled.. All seems OK now.
