i say. u design it, u make it, u patent it then u license it.. The rest can pay for licenses and whine as long as they want up untill they can come up with something special of their own. Its amazing how they are all so eager to make a buck off someone elses design.  Competition is good but so is designing something amazing and patenting it. This patent is disgustingly broad, but it shows how the world leans towards cloning apple designs.

what is assenine is that it took 4 years for the patent to be awarded in the first place. It could have saved a lot of court time had it been awarded in an effecient manner.

On the other foot, Android should not have copied the interface like they did.

Copy the interface?  This patent really talks about the finger gestures (mostly relating to how web pages are handled). Like how you move a web page left or right with your finger. Or to pinch zoom with two fingers. This patent is stupid. Only reaffirms my hate for that company. I had a big rant about how much I hate them here, but I decided against it. There's enough of that banter on the net already :).

yep.. that is an interface and I don't care WHO developed it. If they created it then they deserve a patent. period.

Those claiming it's a very broad patent need to actually read the patent. The entirety of it boils down to the combination of the following:

1) Scrolling with one finger scrolls the main content on the screen (ex: a webpage in a browser).

2) Scrolling with two fingers only scrolls a framed subsection of the main content (ex: an iframe on said webpage).

The patent does not apply to scaling or rotation (only translation), nor does it apply to any gestures involving fingers moved indpendently, nor to single-finger scrolling on its own (which is as old as touchscreens).

It's not going to be a significant threat to much of anyone (Android's native browser does not even support iframes properly--they cannot be scrolled at all, if they even render). And were it as broad as claimed, it wouldn't (or at least, shouldn't) have been granted due to the copious amount of prior art involving the various components, and the non-obviousness of combining them.

if and i use the word "if" carefully, apple invented this technology then they deserve the patent rights. On a side note i just heard apple as patented the front to back wiping of bums and are now sending cease and desist notices out to everyone and demanding a royalty per swipe. (shows just how ridiculous i think apple really is)
