Sequel to Nexus: The Jupiter Incident announced

Looks like there will be finally a Nexus 2: Announcement

But they still need to get the funding. I hope they get what they need to make it.

They have already worked on it in 2005 but it seems that no publisher was interested in it.

Very cool, a crowd-sourced publishing deal. I loved the first game, so for me a pledge was a no-brainer. I wouldn't hold my breath for any real "revenue share" though, those things tend to get filtered out in the book-keeping ("oh, we just hired someone for 1 year forward, so that ate all the revenue").

I hope these guys get the money they need. I would gladly pick this up when it finally comes out.

Good that something is being done with the game. Watching that video and than learning that the game had been cancelled made me almost as sad as watching this video...

Yay... Homeworld, the game of my heart. Higaara, lost Paradise...

Hmm, I wasn't too impressed with the 1st game. Missions were all predefined. You go into them, lose or win if you are lucky and then reload the game to where you pick your ships for the mission and then try to win with different combination. Rinse and repeat until you find a combination that wins for that mission. Stupid way to design a game.

Most games aren't sandbox, Torin, they are story-driven.

For what it was, Nexus was amazing, it was also some pretty good sci-fi, My only complaint is that they lost the normal newtonian model too fast once you got... what you got... (don't want to spoiler anyone). I hope Nexus gets it's sequel! One of the most underrated games of the last 10 years, imo.

End of Itharus's quote
I am not taking about story/sandbox/railroad. I am talking about game mechanics and how they were implemented into missions. And that game had one of the worst. Utter crap.

I played the original game which I quit after I figured out it was a glorified version of rock/paper/scissors. Each mission you would start with whatever, see what kind of enemies await you and then load save before the mission and customize your fleet so it hardcounters what the enemy throws at you. And if you didn't do that (like me) you could not finish missions. I hate games like that.

Never going to be funded. They're not even trying.
