Problems with WB

ok so here is the issue. I am using the latest version 7.20f and after i apply a theme (in this case majik) it takes forever to apply and when it does the theme is only half applied and the WB config window has frozen and requires task manager to get it to close. Now the config window won't open at all and after a reboot windows has reverted to windows classic theme. I can't even apply aero now and it requires an uninstall of windowblinds and a restore of archive to get it to work again. This has happened a few times now and it's getting tiresome. The last few updates to WB have seen substandard at best and i am getting tired of having to go through this every week or so just to apply a new theme. Don't get me wrong, once i have restored the archive or reinstalled fresh it works for a few themes and then hangs like this. At this time i am forced to use IE9 because now google chrome won't even open properly and crashes instantly. there must be a fix for this and soon because i am seriously considering not renewing my sub next time it becomes dues because this is more trouble than it is worth.

Sounds like you got the borked version, mate.

If your sub is current you can use the roll back via Impulse and then install the right one.

If not, try via the store... https://store.stardock.com/login.aspx?ReturnUrl=/myaccount/products

You're an old hand... but if you want a 'how to' with Impulse just pm me and I'll outline it for you... free. :)

Hey Nimbin there were problems with an update that came out before the current version that is available.  There was a thread about it in the forums.  I even believe it matter where you download the update from, Impulse or Stardock.com Store.

Just a suggestion, open up WBs configuration (if you can) and select default and apply then uninstall WindowBlinds and run CCleaner or a similar program and reboot.  Then go to Stardock.com Store, sign in and you should see all the stuff you have brought.  Go down the list untill you see WindowBlinds 7 and you should see the current beta and production versions.  I had first used Impulse to get the beta update and it didn't work, then when the current update came out I used the Store link and everything is working okay.

Hopefully this clears up the problem for you.  Post back in either case.  :sun:

EDIT:  Doc beat me

Uninstalled, and i downloaded the non beta version of WB. Sick and tired of beta versions now. Yes i removed all traces of WB from the registry first. I won't use impulse anymore and anyway i uninstalled it from my system just now because it's useless to me now. It doesn't recognise my current sub and won't let me download anything anyway. So goodbye impulse (thank god). Anyway i am now using the last non beta version and i will see how that goes.

You should be fine with the non beta version.  I know what you mean with beta versions but someone has to try them, and it be me.

If you are a subscriber and renew you subscription then I believe Impulse will not longer work for you.  The Store link seems to have all my things showing there along with the correct expiration date for Object Desktop and WinCustomize.

I still have Impulse but don't use it.  One of these days I will unistall it.  But I will Impusle Now for its easy way to open up the customizing program by selecting My Software.

Be aware though that if you installed any Stardock products with Impulse, then uninstall Impulse you will not be able to uninstall any products that were installed with Impulse.  You have to have Impulse installed to uninstall them, a real pain the butt.

ummm, no that's not the case actually. All the stardock products i have are available to be uninstalled in the add/remove programs section of windows as well as in Ccleaner. thats how i uninstalled windowblinds today and cursorFX, iconpackager etc are also listed there for uninstallation. I have never used impulse to uninstall any stardock product. :)

If you completely uninstall impulse, as I have done it, the uninstall files are deleted and you can not uninstall through the Control Panel, although they are still listed there.
