Happy New Year = Shana Tova From Doc to all at SD and WC and my special friend, Koop

Happy New Year = Shana Tova From Doc to all at SD and WC and my special friend, Koop

Yesterday, Israel made available (digitally) the Dead Sea Scrolls to all interested in viewing them. They come with an magnify, outline and translate to English option.

So… I thought, what better way to wish my friends here (and to everyone, everywhere) a “Happy New Year” than with one of my favorite quotes from Isaiah.

I recently went to Photoshop school (Lesa Snider, G-d Bless you for the wonderful teacher you are!) with Hankers (and a special blessing to you, my friend).

My warped and devious mind decided to put these events together and (as is my way, yearly) to wish all

A Wonderful, Healthy, Peaceful, Productive and Creative New Year

So here it is, with great love to you all…

and have a sweet new year, doc.  When i dip the apple slices in the honey, I will think of you... and all our friends here at SD.

edit;  no wise cracks about honey... dipping apples in honey is a tradition at the New Year.   (There are actually four 'new years' each calendar new year.  One is the new year for trees - basically, don't harvest from trees until they are a certain number of years old.)  Anyway, sometimes honey IS honey.  So no wise cracks.  (He is good looking, isn't he?)
End of ElanaAhova's quote

LOL.... yes, it is a custom at New Years. To signify sweetness in the New Year. (why wise cracks???)

Oh, I didn't realize today is 'teach a non-Jewish about Jewish stuff' day
End of Gormoth1's quote

"Doctor" comes from docere (latin), meaning 'to teach'. Every opportunity to have others understand should be snatched... and treasured.

Religious diversity should be taught every day. There would be less hate in the world, imho.

Correct, my friend.   k1

The thing is, when we get to the end of the day, we are not all that different, the road we travel to get there is what makes us who we are.

Happy New Year.
End of Philly0381's quote

True wisdom. And to you as well, John. :)

Navy, eh? Was my second choice, but due to the age of picture it was very hard to tell. My confusion was due to the pin, which reminded me of an airforce pin:

Lucky you for being able to return to the US as well :)

Edit: ummm, guys, I'm Jewish, myself (albeit a secular one) so I really wouldn't mind that you'll learn more Jewish customs, I was just kidding around.

Those were my parachuting wings. My UDT wings were on the other side, with my Operational service pin. Serious business, once upon a time in a galaxy far, far away.

Not to mention that you'd learn that diversity is our greatest strength. Think of all that very rich history going back so many thousand years. Just what's available in the libraries alone is enough to boggle the mind. I figure over 150 countries on Earth....that many and more different cultures....here's one that links East, West and everyone in between. Its a mythological animal that may or may not have existed for real. A Dragon. In nearly every culture there are references to dragons. Something to think about.
