Strange Quirks in Sins of a Solar Empire

Oddball Behavior

Does anyone have any strange quirks in Sins of a Solar Empire?

Here are some examples of my oddball behavior. I could only think of three.

1. There are specific character portraits that I like a lot for enemy empires so I often (not always) leave and return to the setup screen until those portraits are available. I'll post the three I like later.

2. If my home star has a really horrible name, I'll sometimes quit and restart the entire game, just to get a different name.

3. This isn't odd so much as it is a pool of drool moment. I sometimes take in the beautiful view by zooming in and angling the camera to look at the side of a ship while it moves through a well with the planet and other ships in the background. I'll also get behind a capital ship as the fleet phase jumps and watch the trip through phase space. I love the phase jump effect and the view of a massive fleet charging in to battle.

Nothin'

I just sit from afar and laugh as my fleets destroy those heretics.

Sometimes I build hundreds of ships and have them spell my name. I'm kidding.

On a serious note, another one that I thought of is my planet naming convention. Unless it already has a name that I like, I'll name my planets according to movies and books that I enjoy, popular places on Earth, and other names that I like. For example, the ice planet Hoth from Star Wars, desert planet Arakkis from Dune, or the terran planet Arborlon from Shannara.

As for 1, you don't have to exit out and come back in, just close the slot of the one you don't like and repopulate it with an AI.  The portraits used change every time.  May take a few attempts before you get the one you want there.

I like to rename my capital ships to the same names I use in the DS lore, but the space available is too small for most of them to fit the full names.

I make my own starbase sound out loud  for the Orkulus.

I don't do anything where I would have to restart, but I will rename planets and ships, usually something Biblical or in Israel, modern or ancient. I use to follow ships and do the cool screens, but until Rebellion comes out, I'm tapped out. Created some of the portraits in DS, so I use a green beret depiction with a David's Lion patch on the beret.

I do 3, but can't say that I do the others, especially with a fleet warping to another planet.  I also like to center the camera on my flagship when it's under fire from all sides, holding the shields.

I like all of these, but especially this one (so far).
