Still No Physical Edition?

With just over a month before the end of Q4 and the deadline for Rebellion, there is still no physical edition? Why is this? The only reason I have not preordered is because there has been less than no confirmation on the physical edition. The replies I got were hesitant and not really sure, some even saying that there might be no disc for it. Can I get a definite answer to this, before I decide if I want to preorder this game or not?

Rebellion is planned for April-March 2012... and it is not a fixed ETA... in fact, beta testing have not yet started...

Since Rebellion is a stand alone, similar to Trinity, i bet that there will be a physical release... Don't think that Stardock will ignore the retail sector, same if the majority choose for digital version...

Only thing we're going to say for now is Spring 2012.

Afraid so. I don't think any version of Sins has ever met its initial release date, but I'm glad that with Sins at least Stardock has always tried to perfect its products as much as possible.

I'd rather them take a bit longer and have less bugs than rush it like so many game companies do and release a poor product full of bugs. Games tend to get less priority  after release so it takes longer to fix and less to fix. Its kind of like getting paid for a job before you do it. You lose some incentive to spend your time on it if you already been paid for it.

With most game companies i got to where i will wait till the price starts dropping. By then you know most of what is going to be fixed is going to be fixed already.

The release date is a place holder, not a fixed date... better a game company who somehow delay a release that a one who rush for meet a release date... usually, rush mean almost unplayable game filled with a lot of bug... today, it is the actual trend for a lot game company but not Stardock... They have test first hand what can be rushing with some of their other game titles...

Since people who have pre-order Rebellion will be able to beta test the game, the Q4 2011 is somehow a valid date for them... if the game is planned to be released spring 2012, it mean that soon the beta testing phase will begin...

Retail edition has been canceled. There may or may not be a physical collectors addition, though it will still require steam no matter how you get it. So at best it will only save you the download.

Aww. I hope there will be a mail-to-you physical version. Someone mentioned that and they didnt shoot it down.

Outside of the planned Collector's Edition (which will be in very limited supply), there will be no physical version of Rebellion made available.

Physical editions are pretty rapidly becoming extinct. The costs of doing them are high and the return is low. One of the big reasons we're seeing smaller and indie PC games do so well is that they're freed up from those expenses.

I would be interested in that. How much are they and where can I order one?
