Downloads for non-GameStop users?

Bought SINS ages ago, was caught up in the migration from downloads on the website to Impulse. Now that Impulse has been bought by GameStop - I want nothing to do with the application (Impulse + GameStop).

For users that have purchased the retail box, is there no other way to get updates to the game except via GameStop?

We'll be releasing a new Stardock Central app for downloading/updating our own software in the near future, and will also have the full downloads available via the Stardock store (that part is open now but currently limited to only the latest SKU of each game; we're adding more as we approach SDC's release).

For the moment though, Impulse remains the only means of updating for users of older releases.

Aw poop, apparently I bought GalCivII and Sins from the wrong place or something, they're not available for download there, but they are listed. GalCivI and Demigod are downloadable though.

Old post, but ... question gets a bit more complicated. I saw this while searching the website today:

https://www.stardock.com/products/sdcentral/

Great! It's available! But the download link takes me to a page to either create an account, or update my account info. I update my account info, go back to download, and I'm in a viscous circle that seems to have no end. After more searching, I found this:

https://www.stardock.com/products/sdcentral/support.asp

Which seems to imply that Central is available, but it's part of Object Desktop, which is $49.95.

Is this the only method available, or am I just failing at navigating the website?

That's the old and now-retired version of SDC which preceded Impulse. You can get the beta version of the new one here, though at present it still only has Trinity available (as on the store website). If you only have the base game and/or individually-purchased expansions, you'll need to continue using Impulse for the time being.

And it looks like the application doesn't work for people that made a retail purchase (it only works for digital purchase or via Steam installs). Hopefully that's still to come.

The website needs some serious TLC.

Those pages shouldn't be linked anywhere on the site if you just visit stardock.com (if there are some such links, let us know where). Google still has them though since they haven't been outright deleted.

Retail versions of Trinity are supported, just not the other SKUs of Sins.

Or phrased differently, unable to play using IronClad Online because my game version is old and the only method to update it is unfortunately controlled by a company that I want nothing to do with. *sigh*

Great customer service response time on the forums, constellation prize I guess ;)

Using Stardock's website (stardock.com) search feature, searched for "Central", it's the top link.
