How to change the number of Capital Ship Levels

I know you cannot add levels...I'm simply wondering if there's a nice clean way of reducing the number of levels...

Of course, if I wanted level 7 to be the highest, I could just make level 8 require 5 million billion XP, making level 7 effectively the highest level...just wondering though if there is a less "clumsy" way to go about this....

I'm assuming the answer is no, but it never hurts to ask....

Its hard coded at 10. No lower and as you know no higher.

I expected that answer, but still it is unfortunate...the problem with ridiculous XP requirements is that those "maxed out" capital ships will still soak up XP....

What exactly do you want the reduced levels for? I think you could do whatever you want to accomplish simply by reducing the stat gains on level up or increasing the required level to gain abilities.

Well let's just say I wanted to try some things with capital ship abilities that would have worked if caps had only 6 or 7 levels...for example, imagine a Halycon with one level of energy aura (+10% damage that stacks with other Halcyons), 1 or 2 levels of AA, and 3 levels of TK push...

The stat gains are not the issue, and changing the level requirements won't help much either since I'd want the total number of levels to be reduced...the biggest concerns are making each ability point comparable and not having abilities that are useful to have, but not worth upgrading beyond level 1...
