How do I get Text Enhance off of my computer?

How do I get Text Enhance off of my computer?

Ive read http://wafflesatnoon.com/2011/10/05/seeing-unwanted-text-enhance-ads/ and I have followed its directions. When I try to go to other forums where people have brought up this problem, theres nothing but morons "trying to help", being extremely and frustratingly vague. I even tried superantispyware (albeit the FREE version but that shouldnt matter seeing it only misses out on features whose usefulness is negligible). I know Im not alone on this either, because I went to a google discussion page and almost all the "trying to help" comments were rated by almost everybody as NOT helpful.

Okay, if you wanna try and help thats great, but be very specific please.

I wonder why JCD is not responding to his own thread. Maybe he got cold feet.

Perhaps he feels like he's not getting anywhere.  Granted, he started out pretty arrogant and might have even thought he asked for help rather than demand it.  But he got more civil later in the thread and the return tone hasn't changed a lot.  (Don't get me wrong.  I'm not saying that's not deserved or anything.)

Using Hijackthis is the best piece of information I've seen here and it appeared to be summarily dismissed.  It can be a great help if used properly and very destructive if taken too far.

A bit of advice to JCD, if you care to take it.  Take an image of your hard drive with something like Acronis before you try to wipe the malware.  That way, you can undo any collateral damage.  Once you have your system cleaned up, take another image (full image, not an incremental update).  Then you can return to the happy clean place you've now arrived if something nefarious gets in again.

Yes, he did, and yes, it has.

I gave perfectly sound advice in reply #25. He asked a civil question and I responded likewise. Previous attitude or not, I try to be helpful under those circumstances.  If he still requires assistance, it's his choice where to seek it.

There was no "tone", and if there was, it wasnt directed at any of you if you actually cared to read. Whatever you took personally as insult was your imagination only.

If your wondering why I havent replied its because Im sick of this hypocritical and oxygen deprived "community" that resides in the "everything else" portion of the forums, and will be steering clear from now on. I should have learned that lesson after the "community" derailed my first two threads with short insults and nonesense.

And no, HiJack this didnt work, not that anyone will continue to help me further after this comment anyways.

It's not an antivirus tool for Joe Average....it's a diagnostic tool which lists everything that can be an issue.  You are then REQUIRED to either know exactly what to look for...or post the logs on their forums and get expert responses.

Unless you do BOTH it is utterly pointless to just run HiJackThis.

I can also [almost] guarantee yrag will know of a solution.  He's the type who actively tries to replicate a fault in order to solve it.

But really, you either ask for help and accept it...or you don't.  It's no skin off anyone's nose if you cannot be bothered to act on legitimate advice.

Yes... and I appreciate that advice... albeit awkwardly... because you guys refer to me as rude and such, and also you guys base your dealings with me upon your experience with me in my previous threads where I believe you guys interpreting me to be the bad guy in such past experiences as biased.

It brought me to this page where a bunch of antispyware software was located. I managed to find a "submit your problem" thing and did so. Didnt see anything indicating a download or instruction on how to use the program HiJackThis.

Go here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/  register with them.  Then post your request for help with the spyware removal.

These guys are good and they will give you step by step full and complete instructions to remove that pest.

Well, you seem to realize that you're being pretty rude.

People are always willing to help though.  In fact, the answers here are more likely to help others reading this thread than they'll help you.  If you'd read the answers without the attitude, you might gain some benefit.  I'm hoping you can do that, but I think that ship has sailed.

Of course, you can simply lock this thread.  As the OP, you have the tools to do so.

Heck, this is an easy answer. Since you evidently cannot understand what people are recommending and how to do it, I recommend turning off your computer, packing it in the car and taking it to a repair facility that can fix your problem, or you could even leave it plugged in right where it's at and call a good computer technician to come over and fix it. See, now wasn't that easy? Problem solved. :)

Ah, but in response to what? Why in response to rudeness of course!

And unless Im mistaken I dont believe its within my power to lock this thread.

If you don't see/have that option from 'Stardock Forums' you can login to Joe User and you 'should' be able to from there.

[hard for me to be certain as I have that access everywhere].

Yup, JoeUser is the only place you can do it now, you could once upon a time do it from impulse_driven, maybe you still can, but i would imagine not.

You may have to write one blog (thread) from joeuser to get it to work (that was the process on impulse_driven) but since i post from joeuser as well, i couldn't be sure.

<edit> Jafo, i think only Ambassador or higher forum rank enabled you to have more control, IIRC, and only if the forum ranks are still in effect, and then only on the native SD site you gained said rank from. I believe Mumblefratz had more user control on GC2 due to higher rank, for instance. <edit>

hi everyone,

I have never used a site like this before, but I read your thread and really need some help.

Yesterday, when I was happily looking at articles on the net, some annoying little HTML words popped up. When I put the house over them, Text Enhance shows me some stuff. Not cool.

So I tried some of the things you guys have said with no positive outcome.

I hear yrag could help me.

I really appreciate any help you can give me. I am seriously at breaking point.

Thanks,

G

You can give this a try:  http://botcrawl.com/how-to-remove-text-enhance/

If that doesn't work, then I'd suggest you start a new thread asking for help - and do it under "Wincustomize General". Call it "Help Please!".

Since you're not asking a specific question about a Stardock program, don't put it in "Support".

I think you'll get more attention this way, without people avoiding this thread because of what went on before. :)

And welcome to WinCustomize.

If you want my help in creating the new post for you, just say so in your reply to this.

The current title is better than "Help please!"  The more information a person can provide early in the process, the better.
