campaign

I am posting because I just bought this game on steam. And it appears there is just a short tutorial and no campaign you just make games in random senarios and off you go.I think this game should definetly make a campaign because it gets new players into the game easier instead of ok hear you go just learn the game. The feature in the game learned buy the players through the campaign.

This game could be great if it did have one one with some cool graphics and multiplayer support i would play this over starcraft

Well multiplayer support is coming since the newest stand alone expansion called Rebellion is a Steamworks game now.

Graphics get an update in Rebellion as well.

Campaign wouldn't do you much good in the PvP arena since campaign's run on specific scenarios when as multiplayer it runs on various strategies sure there are standard things that everybody does for their respective factions but that's about it. Also a campaign in a 4x RTS game is a bit awkward. The point is to build up your empire from this single planet not do various missions. It seems too slow paced in my opinion for the fast pace of quick time events and such.

We had heard something about unique goal oriented Scenarios, if not a full campaign, in Rebellion, along with an expanded tutorial, but these haven't appeared in recent interviews, so they may have been cut. :S

End of GoaFan77's quote

Tutorials could use expansion and such. The tutorials are really lacking. It tells you nothing of proper unit counters which this entire game runs on.

well I was playing anno 2070 and the game is similar to this as far as building and empire and trading and the campaign and mission system they used in there really work well for this type of strategy game something like that would do well in this game.

Conquest: Frontier Wars (think Starcraft w/ this gameplay) had a campaign and made it work. Large scale objectives without short deadlines. In fact, they were one of the first to have a game with this type of scope. Not quite as structured, but very similar. SupCom helped to bring about the smooth transition from strategic to tactical and Sins just put the two together. It's an obvious evolution that someone had to cash in on.

campaign would be ass for sins, and id enjoy it immensely.

Games without campaigns are crap.  I picked up SOASE, played for a week before being bored to hell, got sick fast of MP issues and players, and was just about to dump the game until I found Mods & Modding.  It's the only thing that saves this game because it doesn't live up to the description StarClad gave.  Rebellion -hopefully better by miles and not just more neat crap.  Blair's finally pitched in about the game and it seems worth buying.

My mistake was thinking SOASE would have real depth.

Sorry to hear Semaz, but I would be lying if I didn't say I can symapthize. Even still, I haven't played it in a good bit outside of looking to fix DS bugs.

Even if Rebellion proves less than capable in your eyes, keep in mind that some of your favorite mods will see updating to help pick the beast up.
