Capital Victory Condition not working

I was playing 1v1 aganist the AI on a random map with only the Capital victory option enaballed. I was using the TEC rebels while the AI was TEC loyalists and i was sitting surrounding his planets (he had two left) and was just training my titan :D when i won the game with the Military victory but i hadnt even caputured his Capital planet. i was left thinking "Whaaaaaa"

Any ideas?

The AI can surrender a game before any of the specific victory conditions are meet, especially when its outclassed in every category (which it sounds like happened).

He probably surrendered.

The AI surrenders once the game hits a certain disparity between your fleets/planets and its...

EDIT:

I love the timing

hahaha

Some kind of message on the victory screen as to what caused the win would be nice.

(IE:  Victory: Enemy Surrendered)

I've always gotten mad at this feature.

When I've been playing for many hours against a frustrating AI enemy and finally have it cornered I really really want the pleasure of totally crushing, annihilating and wiping it from the face of the galaxy. But it always take the chicken way out and surrenders. X(

I think you can just hit the "keep playing" button to get the satisfaction of destroying it's structures and bombing its planets if you're so inclined.

Well yes I can "keep playing" but I know that the AI have already surrendered. It's not the same thing. I want it to stubbornly go down clawing and screaming in agony refusing to give up!

Then play against Vicious AI

If I do I will go down clawing and screaming in agony...

Vicious is not that hard to counter at this point. They don't know how to use capital ships at the moment, just like lower difficulty level AI players. It simply provides the best challenge and the most fun right now.

I'll have a go at it then. The harder AI settings destroys me in Trinity. :/

Yea in trinity the AI is harder compared to the AI in this beta. I only play against Unfair and Cruel AI's in trinity, Vicious is just unbeatable in my opinion. But here I eat those Vicious guys for breakfast. Omnomnom!

Still it kinda kills the mood for the game to end like that. I was having fun playing with my prey :pout:

Don't leave them quite as helpless. Let them keep several planets intact so they may falsely believe they stand a chance.
